Plus she’s so beautiful like omfg
she is GORGEOUS & her relationship with hannibal is so beautiful & fascinating to me..... but mostly i just tend to think a lot about how growing up with hannibal must have been for her. i think she looked up to lady murasaki to an unhealthy degree bc you know the lecters are incapable of being normal about interpersonal relationships. i think she would follow her around the house, imitating her every move, trying to adopt her mannerisms, her cadence, her accent. a little shadow, always a bit hesitant to make her presence known until murasaki gently coaches her out of the background & teaches her everything she might want to know. i can also easily picture her trailing behind a teenage hannibal lecter, small & delicate yet eager to do as he does & learn from him just as she does from the lady. hannibal, who has just started to talk again & does not say much but that when he does speak to her sounds way too wise & old for his age. i think about how she must have seen her closest friend & almost brother grow up from an odd & angry boy into something she can only grasp the edges of, seen their remaining family turning their backs on him while she decided to stay. because hannibal lecter might be a monster but hes also the person who taught her how to identify medicinal & aromatic herbs, & the one who cleaned up her scrapped up knees when she tripped while attempting to follow him into the forest. chiyoh learns how to shoot a gun, learns how to be cruel & cold, because its what she has to do in order to protect her family, & she does it gladly. she loves hannibal very much, & she will never be certain if hannibal feels the same about her, or if hannibal is even capable of feeling things like normal people do, but she remembers seeing something fragile & shattered under the layers of darkness surrounding his heart, & she promised herself she would always look after it.
