Created in 1897 for Queen Wilhelmina to wear at her accession ceremony
Originally created to ''host'' the 39.75 carat, blue-green, Stuart Diamond on top, diamonds from Queen Emma's diamond parure were used.
Origin: purchased by King William III for his wife, Queen Mary II of England in the late 1600s. Mary and William were childless and after William III died in 1702, the jewelry was inventoried and, since most of it was originally the property of the House of Orange, it was returned to the Netherlands. Among them, there was the “Stuart” Diamond.
The tiara can be worn in several different configurations with or without the Stuart Diamond.
