Trauma || Self-Para
Amelia felt and heard the door explode into several pieces, falling onto the people who stood near by. Immediately Amelia jumped to the floor, using her arms to cover her head, so nothing would get into her eyes or injure her skull. As she was laying there she could feel her heart beat racing, she was having a hard time breathing, and everything felt blurry. All she could do was lay there feeling stuck in a moment that she wish she could forget.
The sound, the people screaming, the smoke, and the movement drew out her worst memory. In her mind she wasn’t at Hogwarts, she was at Gringotts with her mother, she had stopped to check something in her bag. As she looked up her mother fell motionless to the floor. Before she could even register or scream out one of the attackers blasted the wall which sent debris on top of her. Amelia couldn’t move all she could do was scream.
Amelia’s breathing was rapid and shallow as if she was having a panic attack. She closed her eyes tightly wishing the images would go away, but she was trapped there.
Professor Bockleberry walked over to Amelia putting a hand on her shoulder. “Amelia? Are you alright?”
As soon as she heard her Professor’s voice she nodded her head. “I can’t... I can’t breath.”
The professor looked at the girl and saw no signs of trauma or injury. She helped Amelia turned around then had the girl look at her. “Amelia I need you to listen to me. I need you to focus on your breathing okay? Focus on your breathing and talk to me.”
Amelia took a deep breath as she began to focus on her breathing. “What do you want me to talk to you about?”
Professor Bockleberry gently rubbed her back as she talked with the girl. “Anything. What are you doing after school?”
“Going to Cambridge... want to be a Historian,” Amelia responded.
The more she focused on her breathing and talked with her professor, her breathing would improve until she was fine. Soon she wasn’t at Gringotts instead she was in the Great Hall full aware of what was going on. “I need to help.” Professor Bockleberry looked at Amelia for a moment unsure to let her. “You had a panic attack. Not sure if you should.” Amelia got up off the floor then looked at her professor. “Thank you... I just.. needed a moment. I need to find my friends.” As soon as she said that Amelia began walking toward the carnage, hoping that she would stay in this reality and not the one she couldn’t change.
