A while back I was gifted an old cookbook. It's seen better days and has clearly suffered some old water damage (the back board is badly warped) but it's a fucking hoot. It's written as if it's a dare.

McDonald was already well and truly known for her eponymous Tea House in Gallatin, Missouri by the time of this book's publishing date (1949). Her first cookbook (1937) was entitled 'How It Is Done!' complete with exclamation point- so the woman wasn't shy regarding her skill.

Now, there's some Real Loud 'of its time' in here- what with the politely racist aside on her scrambled brains recipe- and, Dear God, there's a challenging amount of Depression Era "can of mushroom soup". But-

I think I want to rebind this thing.

Also my copy came with free bonus recipes and a mystery! The lady on the obverse is wearing awfully Late 40s clothes and skinny eyebrows for a book published in 1949. Some fashion person correct me. Or better yet, can a nerd ID this smiling lady? Has this clipping been hiding untouched in this $14 found-in-the-trash book for the last 75 years? Also also "hot thick applesauce, strained" is what they called me in high school.

So @theriverpersonshadow has a dude named Oozy who I've fallen in love with. Such a punny guy! Not gonna spoil what's happening in our RPs but Oozy is needing some love.

I made his tail a lot shorter, his body chunky, and of course, he's covered in a layer of slime.
