TINY BABY ALERT!!!! 😭😭💕
One Piece - #1017
One Piece Theory: Sun God Nika and Joy Boy
In Chapter 1018, Who’s-Who tells Jinbe about a story he heard from a guard during his imprisonment. According to the guard,
“slaves in ancient times believed in a legendary warrior that would eventually come and save them. They called him ‘Sun God’ Nika!”

BABY CHOPER
Not gonna lie, I’m not a big fan of the idea that the Gomu Gomu no Mi is somewhat special.
I’ll wait and see what’s the big revelation here, but I feel that making it valuable for the WG was a mistake. The only DF we saw get this treatment until now was the Op Op no Mi which, in the right hands, can grant immortality.
The Gomu Gomu no Mi was great for Luffy for the same reason the straw hat was: It’s silly. I liked the fact that it wasn’t a great Devil Fruit, one that never really made history until now. Yeah, you get immunity to bludgeoning damage but that’s about it, you don’t become a living flame, turn into a dragon or steal people souls, that’s a simple and straight forward power.
I liked the idea that it only became fearsome because Monkey D. Luffy is an absolute beast who went against all sort of reasonable limits to take full advantage of his rubber body.
But now, there is the menace of a retcon revealing that the WG was aware of some kind of secret potential within the fruit from the beginning. Or some sort of heritage associated with it, such as being Roger’s fruit (yeah no, I saw a lot people throwing this idea, but let’s be real, it would have come up a long time ago if Roger was a rubber man) or even Joy Boy’s.
And I really don’t like it, it undermines Luffy uniqueness. We already know that Luffy has a lot of parallels with great figures from the past. He has a D in his name, possesses the conqueror haki, has the same mysterious dream Roger had, can hear the Neptunians like Oden did... We know Luffy is fated to become the Pirate King and change the world, but not everything about him as to be something special. His devil fruit being a simple, dumb paramecia that nobody ever thought would make history was great, I don’t want that to change.
I’m resisting the urge to freak out over this chapter and the next, but wooooooooo this Jimbei vs Who’s-who fight has me rattling the bars of my cage

me: chopper’s “cuteification” or “mascotification” over the years is overall a poor design choice, reminiscent of a typical manga instead of the unique story one piece has proven itself to be time and time again, not just with plot but with character personalities and appearances. his first look, while still cute, was much more original and---
op 1017:
me: never mind this rules
