I found washi tape and I'm interested in trying to make art with it! Do you have any tutorials or advice? I have no idea where to start, haha.

*oh yeah!! I whipped up this quick “tutorial” thing- I hope this helps...! Washi tape is super fun to use but can be difficult at times-

Also, I usually use a thicker paper so the washi tape comes up easier. Most times I use multi-media sketchbooks...!

If you use thinner paper, the paper will rip when you pull the tape- you can see in some of the shots here I forgot to use better paper so it ripped haha

Start with a normal lineart drawing!

Place whichever color washi tape you want to use down in a straight line.

If you need to use more than one piece of washi tape to color something in (here i reference her hair), line it up right against the washi tape youve set down.

Once the one color of washi tape is in place, I use an x-acto knife to cut out the areas where the color will go.

Once youve cut the shapes out, you can peel the tape right off! Some edges might take some refining and thats okay.

First layer done! (you can see where i ripped the paper because i didnt use multi media haha). When going to your next color, you can lay down the next washi tape over your previous one.

I usually only do a couple of colors, so here she is! Once you have both colors, line the art piece again so the washi tape looks like its under the lines.
