omega x omega headcanons

omega A is a nurse and meets omega B during the war. omega A is amazed/immediately smitten with omega B, who is a decorated warrior, something that isn't common for omegas in omega A's culture. omega B thinks A is pretty cute, and so he keeps finding reasons to go to the sick bay.

omega C and omega D are ready to take the next step in their relationship - merging their nests. They've lived together for a little while, with separate spaces, but they spend so much time sharing, what's the point? C is nervous about bringing it up, and is worried that D will decline and say they're moving too fast. Meanwhile D has been working on a little speech to propose the idea to C during date night.

Omegas E and F are mortal enemies. Always have been. They grew up in the same pack, and have always been competitive with one another. When a new beta with an impressive pedigree comes to town, they both fight to outdo each other, to win her affection. Although one thing leads to another, and maybe all of that "hate" starts softening into something a little sweeter.

Omega G grew up in a culture where everyone is treated equally, no matter the dynamic. They decide to go to university in a different part of the country and meet Omega H, her new roommate, who comes from a very conservative background. Omega H is more outgoing than Omega G and wants to her (G) to tag along to all of her (H) social events. G gets upset watching H "lower and disrespect" herself in order to please people from other dynamics. H thinks G's attitude and beliefs will force her into a lifetime of isolation and social ostracization. Guess they've both got a lot to learn!

Omega I comes from an all omega-pack, and he's never had much exposure to other dynamics. Omega J is betrothed to a wealthy alpha merchant who is passing through I's pack territory. The alpha hires I to be J's lord-in-waiting. The alpha says that she knows J prefers omegas, as she herself doesn't fancy omegas all that much, and hopes I can keep him (J) company beyond the job description.

One of the parts of the omegaverse's worldbuilding I like the most is the concept of nests and all of its possibilities! In fact I have some personal headcannons if you dont mind to read:

-Nests can variate in size, shape, prupose...from individual nests being exclusively for a single omega, to huge mountains of blankets and pillows made for entire packs to fit in (wheither they are friend packs, family packs, etc)

-In family packs, omegas tend to keep EVERY single plushie that has belonged to ANY member of the family and put them in the nests, so its not weird to see nests filled with old teddybears that have belonged to some great great grandparent 125 years ago. They make that as a tribute to those family members that have passed away, to tell them that they will never be forgotten and there will always be a place in the nests for them, even if they are not physcslly there anymore.

-In some areas its common to organise "nest trades" several times a year. In those events, many omegas reunite to give hand-made plushies, pillows, blankets, etc to those packs that struggle economically and cannot afford proper nests. They also trade items between friends, sell items made of alternative materials for people with allergies, discuss over which nest structures and ideas are viable or not, make expositions of nests made by them that people can try on,etc

-Nests are also a prominent topic In social media. There are like thousands of channels that focus entirely on nest designing: tutorials on how to make proper nests of different sizes, advice on which materials are better to use in every case, which color combinations look better, which type of decoration use depending on the aesthetic they want the nest to be, and even videos showing nests with original and unusual structures and colors. Nests are not only consdered a comfort place, but also a subgender of art and a way to express your creativity.

Do you see all Omegas as having AFAB genitalia? That's a personal hc of mine because it makes heats and ruts more fun to me. Also it seems hard trying to push an entire baby out of your butt so I wanted to make things easier for the males of that dynamic :)

the true answer is I don't really think about it that often, but also sort of.

however if all omegas had soley AFAB genitalia, what's the major difference between male and female omegas? Nature doesn't like redundancy, so having two urethras for example just seems pointless to me. However, in my au both male omegas and female alphas can give birth/inseminate others - with different levels of probability/risks.

When I think about biology in any worldbuilding setting it can often just make me go down months long rabbit holes of trying to make something work that I could just leave unexplained for myself! This is one of those things for me, or else I'd have to figure out how zygote growth processes work and I literally cannot let myself go there. I don't have the time lol!

I definitely don't write male omega births being "butt-births" however, because that would seriously harm both the parent and the child's life, because the bones aren't elastic back there! Also it's just too bananas for me (ironic right, a fictional premise that's just too much).

regardless, if the body can have a baby it needs a uterus - the baby can't just be floating around in the abdominal cavity (although this can happen irl as an ectopic pregnancy and they're nightmares - they're non-viable for the zygote and can absolutely fatal for the carrier.) also, when adding more holes, I just think about how it's more places you can get an infection lol.

As someone who was unfortunate enough to find omegaverse fics filled with gross stuff over the years (you know, romantization and glorification of s3xu4l 4ss4ult and/or r4p3, toxic/violent relationships, fetishization/infantilization of omegas, etc) I think that one interesting topic that could be adressed in omegaverse AUs/stories is the oversexualization of Young alphas/omegas and the normalization of predatory behaviors as a consequence

Even thought this usually varies depending on the author's choices, many versions of the ABOverse agree that alphas/omegas start developing their secondary sexes during puberty. Usually alphas get taller, more muscular and "mature-looking", while omegas are small and frail, which gives them an innocent and cute appareance. Those traits are ABO society's beauty standarts in most versions of the genre, and at the same time they are very sexualized and fetishized on fics. However, Its never adressed how those sexualized beauty standarts would realistically affect the individuals, who in most of those stories are in the age range of teen-young adults.

Just imagine that youre a teenage omega, your short stature, frail-looking body and your soft fatial features makes It very evident. Everytime you walk throught the street you see not only Young, but full grown alphas that could easily be your parents getting flustered at you, making gross comments about how "perfect, innocent and cute" you are or about how you should belong to them and be their spouse, and some of them even talk about taking you by force someday. All your social media accounts are anonymus because otherwise you get harrased by Alpha users. It has reached a point where you cannot leave the house unaccompained due how scared you are. Why are all those alphas so creepy to you? You're just a kid!

Now lets imagine that youre an Alpha teenage: Suddendly everyone treats you like an adult. They seem to forget that just because you look like one doesnt mean that you are. Many family members start talking weird about you, saying that you're ready to be a leader, to marry and breed with omegas and "dominate them" as any Alpha should. You have also encountered some omegas telling you that you are very hot, muscular and such and they want you to bite them, they don't really leave you alone till you tell them that you are 15. When you tell your loved ones about it they don't care very much, after all, you are already an Alpha, you should feel Lucky for having such amount of omegas "admiring" you and wanting you to own them, right?

I mean, from my point of view this fictional situation isn't entirely different than the real life phenomenon of teens who get secondary sex characteristics earlier than their peers or the conflation of "physical maturation" = "mental/emotional maturation" that negatively impacts many teens of color who lie on either side of the infantilization - adultification spectrum.

Just because you "look" like an adult, or you look older than you are doesn't mean that's how old your brain is.From an omegaverse perspective, many writers like to play into this for further "taboo-ification" of the alpha/omega trope. But, if this was a real life society, I'm pretty sure that wouldn't all be a-okay.

Using your example about the young omega - their dynamic is not their fault and it isn't really their responsibility to police how other people interact with them because of the way their body looks. Now, they or their parents may opt for personal interventions to minimize the attention they're drawing towards themselves - such as dressing modestly, using scent blockers, etc.. Regardless, the situation you are describing is one where physical and sexual abuse are commonplace and acceptable, and unlike many popular stories/aus that utilize this sort of senario - I think overtime alphas would fall out of fashion in terms of being ideal partners as they would be seen as uncontrollable, overly-emotionally, and dangerous, while betas would rise up the dynamic hierarchy to replace them.

In the reverse situation that you presented, I feel like it's almost a little more complicated because in a society that reveres alphas and alpha-like characteristics getting complimented like that would be a good thing. Of course the entire situation is extremely over-sexualized, and gives off "that one uncle everyone stays away from" vibes, but if the omegas are adults talking to a kid like that (if they stop after learning they're 15 that's sort of a different story) that's not great behaviour from them, especially considering they are then feeding the cycle of abuse that kept them down in the first place.

On top of all of this, I guess you'd have to consider what the accepted age of adulthood and age of consent are in your au. As we know, current attitudes on the subject fluctuate but most are at least a couple years older than they were - say 100-200 years ago. In the US legally it varies by state being anywhere between 16-18 years old, while globally there are some places where the age of consent is as low as 12 and as high as 21. To make matters even more complicated, several areas have addendums to the rule if partners are marriage or can be protected by Romeo and Juliet laws.

As we all know, I don't enjoy reading content that uses abuse/violence/predatory behaviors as a romantic vehicle to push the story forward, but some people are into it. For those out there who for one reason or another are writing a story or developing headcanons about this here are some worldbuilding questions I'd consider -

How young is too young? How is this enforced?

Is a bond mark legally similar to marriage in real life in the sense that bonded partners have protections that non-bonded partners don't?

If the alpha/omega had "good" parents would they still be okay with the relationship? Why or why not?

What constitutes for abuse or violence in this community?

Does the young alpha/omega know they're being abused? (as a general side note, I'm sure we all remember being 14-15 and thinking "I know exactly what's going on and I'm in control" only for a couple years to pass and to realize, "no I didn't and no I wasn't")

I found some posts a while ago which talked about two Alpha parents with an adopted omega child, but I couldnt find anything about two omega parents with an adopted Alpha child. Honestly im curious about how the last scenario could turn out, because two Alpha parents can easily manage an omega child, but two omega parents may have issues managing an Alpha child that is bigger than them, stronger than them, and has the usual Alpha behavior (territorial, prone to agressiveness, etc).

The adoption aspect of omegaverse its so underrated and overlooked I swear 😭

howdy! another traditional omegaverse question - let's get to it!

as always, here are some questions for you to consider -

what is more important in your au - "gender" or "dynamic"? in the sense that, even if both parents are omegas, does it make any difference if one (or both) parents share the same gender identity of their child?

How animalistic can alphas become in your au? Will the alpha child become completely uncontrollable (physically) at any point in time due to this territorial/aggressive behavior that you mention?

How big is "bigger" than, how strong is "stronger than"? two adults who are mid 5' wouldn't be completely useless fighting a teen that was 6'+, but they might have a difficult time, and an even more difficult time if the teen is 7'+. Just something to ponder.

at what age does the child present? It makes a difference here in the case that if the family knows the child is an alpha the whole time v. if the child presents as an alpha later on in life.

the good part - the headcanons

omega A and omega B love their child no matter what. Prepared for all eventualities when they started going through the adoption process, they were both sure to read about alpha experiences/behavior and speak to their alpha friends and family members (as well as the same thing for betas) ahead of time to make sure that no matter what child came into their home, they had the resources and knowledge to support them.

the alpha child wasn't happy when they presented, after secretly hoping she'd get to be an omega too because of their love for their parents. omegas A and B assured her that nothing would change about how much they loved her and were always going to be proud of her no matter what.

the omega parents aren't used to having an alpha in the house, and slowly realize that everything is just a little small for their full grown alpha son when he comes home to visit. His old bed is slightly too short, the silverware looks small in his hands, the ceilings are sort of low, everything! omega A tries to accomodate him, but the alpha just laughs and mentions that they're only noticing now because he's been away for a while - and that he doesn't mind at all.

omega B is secretly excited to have an alpha daughter because it means they'll have more alpha scent around the house - even though he's attracted to other omegas like his husband, it reminds him of the pack he grew up in where there were alphas everywhere.

The alpha, now older, always dated betas or other alphas and is bringing home an omega for the first time. This is extremely nerve wracking because he doesn't want his moms to think that he's been sexualizing them, and yes it was a bit of a hard sell to admit to himself he liked his omega in the first place because of all that but he's very much in love. Of course, when the big day comes, omega A is so happy she bursts into tears and wraps the new omega in the biggest hug she can manage. Omega B just smiles and tells her son he's got "a good eye".

The alpha moves away from home for the first time and lives with other alphas for the first time ever. They're a little weirded out at first - she reaks of omegas, and has a nesting compulsion, but eventually she convinces them to try it and then - what do you know pretty much all the alphas in the town now have nesting/denning habits to calm themselves down.

Omega A is furious and kicks his newly presented alpha son out of his house. Wandering the streets alone, the alpha picks up the familiar scent of omega B who has packed both of their bags, brought a hot dinner/change of clothes for the alpha and two bus tickets for them to get some distance and potentially start over entirely if omega A can't knock it off.

What happens if an omega loses their main glands (injured deeply on shoulders and neck but they survive)

Can they mate and be marked? What happens to their scent? Does it lessen? Does it affect the heat?

howdy - and ouch!

yes, the strength of their scent would change dramatically. They might want to invest in some scent patches or perfumes to make up for the difference - although of course since it's artificial it wouldn't be able to convey different emotions, etc.. You could also explore scent enhancement medications/supplements.

In terms of marking - yes they could still be marked, but if you include headcanons like mates scents take on similar aspects after marking, this would no longer apply.

Heats get complicated, because it just depends on how biology works in your au. If the scent glad also has hormonal producing properties, then yes the heat may be impacted. If not, than no it wouldn't beyond not having a "heat" scent that might attract potential mates.

So I have a big question, how could a transgender person be in the omegaverse, taking into account that gender doesn't matter much and the dynamic (A/B/O) is the most important thing. What would an Alpha male be like, who feels that the right thing for him is to be Omega? Sorry for my bad English.

okay, two disclaimers - I am not trans (peanut gallery - if you are trans please give your take below, I'm sure anon would appreciate hearing from someone with lived experience), and second I'll be answering this from a traditional omegaverse perspective - the most conservative and strict style.

He'd probably become very isolated - as it would be difficult for him to connect with others in his peer group (alpha males) and may harbor deep resentment towards them for their chauvinistic/brash attitudes or how they treat betas/omegas. This isolation may be physical - not going out much, squirreling himself away or it might be more mental - such as not giving out any personal details, having a "nothing behind those eyes" look all the time, floating around like a ghost.

Depending on his family/friend/circle's consensus on what the purpose of being an omega is, he might feel a great deal of shame and anger. This could turn into something I haven't seen written about often but is interesting - where he knows deeply that he is an omega but hates himself for it, wishing he could've only been the alpha other people see him as. This might influence him to start overcompensating with is "alpha-mask" hoping to lean so far into this persona that he can convince himself and others he's just the most alpha-y alpha to ever alpha.

If he feels compelled to engage with behaviors understood to be "omega" like nesting - it will be done in a private place he knows other people will not find it. If his own home/room isn't a good place for this, perhaps he might have a hideout somewhere - a safe space where he can be himself.

It would be great if he had a confidant or unlikely friend who he was able to open up to about who he was - I'd suggest a female omega for his because of the great political/gender divide that lies between them both in gender and dynamic - and there are many ways they could play this relationship to make it look acceptable to be seen together.

He may feel extremely depressed, ashamed, angry, etc... when he goes through ruts or experiences attraction to those he deems "not appropriate". Obviously, being trans and sexual attraction are not the same thing, but I'm sure it would be hard to seperate the two when being around another omega makes him basically froth at the mouth and become a slave to his alpha hormone's sex drive. I'm sure he would find that behavior disgusting and may have a lot of mental/emotional conflict if he found himself unable to stop lusting after an omega in a way that he feels is "alpha". If I were authoring his story, I might have him find acceptance and romantic love in the arms of the female omega he befriends - showing that loving omegas was just who he was, not just part of being in an alpha body.

In terms of what he might do to transition - perhaps he might seek out scent blockers, rut control, and other hormonal aids to take the edge off. Nothing could really be done about his height, and he would need several surgeries (possibly experimental depending on your au) to solve the rest if that's something he was even interested in.

Other things to think about - the specific culture he lives in and others' he might intersect with, how the alpha might struggle separating who he is as a man apart from who he is as an alpha, what biological/cultural signifiers communicate his dynamic to other people (would he have an easier time if he just moved somewhere else??), and a billion others.

Like I said, I am not trans and since omegaverse uses a two part gender model I don't think we can reliably conceive of all of the things that one would have to think about if they wanted to change how they were perceived in one half only.

Hi, I have a quick question. If an Alpha, who always wears an scent blocker and hides his true sub-gender, pretending to be a Beta, met an omega and realized that they are his true mate upon smelling the Omega's pheromones. Could the Omega also sense it even though they haven't smelled his pheromones?

I'll answer in terms of my own au and one for a more generic/common omegaverse.

My AU -

Not everyone has true/fated mates, but it is possible for people to be paired with any/all dynamics. Therefore this situation is very possible! This is a phenomenon that transcends dynamics, so it would just be like two people seeing each other clearly and intimately in a sort of impossible way.

Both people could sense it, but if you're asking if the omega would know somehow that the "beta" was actually an alpha it would just depend. First of all, alphas can be taller/bigger than betas so that could be a good clue. Second of all, it would depend on the culture that they are both from. Does either person grow up in a culture where betas and alphas are socialized and developed (culturally) differently?

One of the characters in my omegaverse, Ellis, is an alpha who uses scent blockers/herbal supplements to pass as a beta. He falls in love with an alpha, Forrest, from another country, one that has equality for all dynamics. Although Forrest notices Ellis coming out of his shell more as the story progresses and as Ellis embraces his real dynamic, he doesn't really care if Ellis was a beta (like he said) or an alpha. At the same time Ellis' journey embracing his dynamic has everything to do with him not feeling confident in himself/slightly afraid of what he thinks an alpha is - until he moves away from home and to Forrest's country where he sees people living without the pressures he felt back home.

Generic Omegaverse -

True mates are a pretty popular trope in the genre and I think in this situation the omega would still feel a deep draw towards the alpha, regardless of if they were presenting as a beta.

This could lead to a humorous situation for the omega who is trying to reconcile falling in love with a beta when they always felt like they'd end up with an alpha, introducing the "beta" to family/friends who are so happy the omega didn't go with a brutish alpha and found someone kind and stable - as all betas are, or you could subvert the whole thing making the omega be only attracted to betas at the beginning of the story and then have to work through what it means to be in with/attracted to an alpha for the first time.
