So I have a big question, how could a transgender person be in the omegaverse, taking into account that gender doesn't matter much and the dynamic (A/B/O) is the most important thing. What would an Alpha male be like, who feels that the right thing for him is to be Omega? Sorry for my bad English.

okay, two disclaimers - I am not trans (peanut gallery - if you are trans please give your take below, I'm sure anon would appreciate hearing from someone with lived experience), and second I'll be answering this from a traditional omegaverse perspective - the most conservative and strict style.

He'd probably become very isolated - as it would be difficult for him to connect with others in his peer group (alpha males) and may harbor deep resentment towards them for their chauvinistic/brash attitudes or how they treat betas/omegas. This isolation may be physical - not going out much, squirreling himself away or it might be more mental - such as not giving out any personal details, having a "nothing behind those eyes" look all the time, floating around like a ghost.

Depending on his family/friend/circle's consensus on what the purpose of being an omega is, he might feel a great deal of shame and anger. This could turn into something I haven't seen written about often but is interesting - where he knows deeply that he is an omega but hates himself for it, wishing he could've only been the alpha other people see him as. This might influence him to start overcompensating with is "alpha-mask" hoping to lean so far into this persona that he can convince himself and others he's just the most alpha-y alpha to ever alpha.

If he feels compelled to engage with behaviors understood to be "omega" like nesting - it will be done in a private place he knows other people will not find it. If his own home/room isn't a good place for this, perhaps he might have a hideout somewhere - a safe space where he can be himself.

It would be great if he had a confidant or unlikely friend who he was able to open up to about who he was - I'd suggest a female omega for his because of the great political/gender divide that lies between them both in gender and dynamic - and there are many ways they could play this relationship to make it look acceptable to be seen together.

He may feel extremely depressed, ashamed, angry, etc... when he goes through ruts or experiences attraction to those he deems "not appropriate". Obviously, being trans and sexual attraction are not the same thing, but I'm sure it would be hard to seperate the two when being around another omega makes him basically froth at the mouth and become a slave to his alpha hormone's sex drive. I'm sure he would find that behavior disgusting and may have a lot of mental/emotional conflict if he found himself unable to stop lusting after an omega in a way that he feels is "alpha". If I were authoring his story, I might have him find acceptance and romantic love in the arms of the female omega he befriends - showing that loving omegas was just who he was, not just part of being in an alpha body.

In terms of what he might do to transition - perhaps he might seek out scent blockers, rut control, and other hormonal aids to take the edge off. Nothing could really be done about his height, and he would need several surgeries (possibly experimental depending on your au) to solve the rest if that's something he was even interested in.

Other things to think about - the specific culture he lives in and others' he might intersect with, how the alpha might struggle separating who he is as a man apart from who he is as an alpha, what biological/cultural signifiers communicate his dynamic to other people (would he have an easier time if he just moved somewhere else??), and a billion others.

Like I said, I am not trans and since omegaverse uses a two part gender model I don't think we can reliably conceive of all of the things that one would have to think about if they wanted to change how they were perceived in one half only.

So I’m turning the question back to you: how would you go about the labeling/naming convention for trans Alpha/Beta/Omega? How is secondary gender conceptualized in comparison to primary? How does the concept of tertiary gender change those conceptions, if at all? Do your ideas scrape against each other or do they blend together?

okay so I really like, don’t know, that’s why I asked you!! But in all seriousness I think it would depend on your verse!!

My verse:

Alphas = protection

Omegas = nurturing

Betas = exploration and equilibrium

To say a trans beta is inherently trans neutral doesn’t feel right to me. Because why do betas have to be neutral, why do alpha have to be masc and omegas Fem?

Also if like, say they’re transfem and trans alpha. In our terms they’d be transfemmasc (intersex term). However - That would be stepping into intersex only / exclusive terms and while a/b/o has those elements it doesn’t seem right yknow? Cause I’m intersex I feel like ppl would really really need to research! And to apply them to general a/b/o seems like it could lead to stereotypes and failure of using the terms correctly

i don’t know greek at all but maybe someone in the community can help! How I would do it is still have trans Fem/neu/masc as that would be for female/male/etc but also use trans + the Greek words for guard, explore, and care. And that would be for the dynamics!

so for our trans alpha transfem it would be “transfem + Greek word for guard,” yknow? But also I’m just one person / one intersex person so!!

Are there any trans dynamic people? Like, say a Male Alpha feels dysphoric about being an alpha, and wants to transition to a beta or an omega? (Because I know that some creators do go into detail with this, while others choose not to delve into it)

Hmm, I've thought about this a lot, and I think that there would definitely be trans dynamic people. After all, a/b/o is a secondary gender that functions in the same way as the primary gender, so it would be strange for it to not exist.

I'm not trans myself, so I don't really want to try and expand this too much because frankly I have a very surface level understanding and don't want to misrepresent something so important. At a glance though, I imagine there would be all the treatments that exist for trans people in our world and then some extra stuff to do with scents and maybe blocking/reducing certain heat and rut symptoms that might cause dysphoria.

But as I said, I'm not trans, and if anyone who is has any ideas I would be really happy to hear them!!!

Heats, Ruts and Blockers

Alright, so, I'm not a fan of traditional solutions to how heats/ruts and blockers work in ABO. I'm in no way a biologist (meaning, I've made shit up) - but I've tried to transform animal behaviors into something that would make a little more sense for hoomans and here's a few things that seem a little more logical for me, in terms of hormones;

Heats happen only for omegas; typically once per 2-3 months. Heat can last anywhere from 2 to 5 days. The intensity of the heat may vary from month to month. Typically, if omega is healthy and happy, they will get the heat with most intensity lasting for 2-3 days. If an Omega is under severe stress, is ill or malnourished, their heat will be very weak, if there at all. It's a survival tactic for the body – it basically going “there's something wrong, we're not ready for the baby! We might even die!”. Weak heats can be normal but if they are frequent, or not there at all, it's a serious sign of something being very wrong.

Weak heats still attract Alphas – but if Omega is also sick in some way, their smell makes Alphas want to care for them, not breed with them.

Heats that are lesser in intensity usually last longer but may be in fact so weak, that some omegas chose to work or go to school during them - of course after applying scent blockers – but it's not recommended since heat is still exhausting for the body.

Ruts are very sparse, though longer. They occur once or twice a year (typically in spring or/and autumn seasons) and last anywhere between 5 and 10 days. They can only occur in Alphas and can trigger an Omegas heat – thought if an Omega is close to it anyway. As opposed to Omega heats, they are not much affected by Alphas state of being, meaning they can be dangerous for sick Alphas, though they are not as (internally) physically demanding as Omegas heats.

A non- typical Alpha rut can be triggered if alpha is long term separated from their mate. It can be very dangerous for both the Alpha and others around them. It's also very stressful for said Alpha so it is advised for long-distance couples to have some scent memorabilia of their mate or wait with mating until the couple can be in vicinity of each other psychically.

Now, there are two types of blockers that are typically legal in my ABO:

Heat blockers - heat blockers are basically the same thing as contraception for us. They do not completely eliminate an Omegas heat but it does make it more manageable for an Omega. It's actually very common for unpartnered Omegas to be on heat blockers as it is very tiring to go through heat alone. 

Scent blockers - now, scent blockers are a more difficult topic.

Lighter doses, that only refine the scent, may be used by omegas in heat, or in some corporate settings since the large body of scent can be dizzying for some people

Full doses are legal but very much universally disliked by every gender. What they do is completely erase a personal scent - not only a dynamic scent but every aspect of a personal scent. Using the full dose of scent blockers is considered an unhealthy practice. In a community so largely focused on scents, a lack of one usually makes others uneasy - including the person using it. There has been some research speculating that using a full dose of scent blockers regularly can make a person depressed, anxious, and unsure of their own identity. It has indeed been (and sometimes still is) used by dynamics (though mainly Omegas) that felt unsafe in some environments. Socially using it since then means either that an individual wants to conceal their status, identity, or has some long term mental or emotional issues as it's mostly avoided by healthy individuals. 

Trans-dynamic individuals after transition do not use scent blockers. Their goal is to smell like their true gender, not to not smell at all. Scent is a side effect of being a dynamic so it changes itself after taking hormones.

Perf! There are not enough trans-dynamic things. I can only think of a couple fics that talk about this (one being Trespasses Sweetley Urged by JD_Riley and Gooseberrypickler on ao3). There are some transgender ones but not enough either so let's get to work. I'll try to fit as much as I can in.

(Disclaimer- I am nb but not trans, I will try my best on this. Also just for the sake of this post I will be referring to the supposed person assigned gender/dynamic at birth briefly)

Omega identifying as a Beta. Packing on cologne/perfume of a super neutral scent a beta may wear. Using scent blockers before this and repeatedly putting it on to help pass. Some peoples noses being super sensitive and they gotta sneeze all the time.

They'd also use heat blockers religiously, making sure they have an alarm set every day to remind them

Alpha identifying as an omega, at first really trying to appear sweet and diminutive like omegas are 'supposed' to. Realizing that's not the only aspect of being an omega and being a strong tough one. Building their cozy little nests and inviting all their friends to chill.

Beta identifying as an omega, taking long showers and baths to help them get that sweet smell. Their alpha knotting and praising them as they roleplay a heat.

Omega female identifying as an alpha Male. He works out tons to get the muscle to pass and to feel good. The other alphas at the gym giving him tips to work on certain muscle groups and inviting him out for drinks. Soon the buffest short alpha ever keeping omegas from being harassed at the gym.

Alpha lady struggling most of her life, not fitting in with any alphas, finally finding himself as a beta male. Super nervous going to a beta support group but is welcome with open arms. Has to get lots of tips on binding cause he is used to just toughing it out. So glad he doesn't have to pack.

Omega male identifies as alpha lady. Will only get with other omegas. She sometimes uses s toy or a ring to simulate a knot and her partners love it. Shes always been on the stronger smell for an alpha, and wears heels all the time to seem taller in her slacks.

Nonbinary alpha feeling so strong and tough in their dresses one day and fuckboi (or suits) the next. Loves simply being addressed as Alpha instead of Sir or Miss.
