Opal trolls and uv reactivity

When designing opal characters for some friends of mine, I was asked to implement characteristics that real life opals have such as UV reactivity and phosphorescence in some cases. I'm so glad this was brought up because it would be such a foolish characteristic not to include considering it's based in fact.

So here's some concepts for this particular trait using Thicket(half opal, so I decided to just make her hair have the trait) Bing and one of @lantherien 's and @mikaelf77 's twins is it Gemino? Or Geminus? I'll never tell 😈

Finally had some time to finish my Opal trolls, which for those of you who aren't already aware are another color variety in trolls I've been playing with. Special thanks to @sunshineafter @lantherien @madamphoenixdiamond and @tealbull81 for helping me with some of the decision making and adding to some of the characteristics.

Basically opal trolls can come in any color and any type of troll. They usually have three or more colors that feature on their highlights, the way any sort of iridescent, Prismatic or opalescent surface might do the same.

Their hair does not have to be the same or similar color to their skin, same as they don't always have rainbow streaks or glitter streaks in their hair, hair color can vary quite greatly.

Heterochromia or two different colored eyes is another feature that they don't all have but it's quite common, the one thing they will have in common with the eyes though is irises that consists of two colors one Fading Into the other, and pupils that do the same, and their pupils usually stand out from their eye color.

They're Prismatic effect is probably something to do with the way their felted skin and hair catches the light, they can have glitter freckles (heavy or modest) but it's not a required characteristic.

So here's my boys Hue and Nyx, they're not your average country boys, they work hard, they play hard and make sure the crops always come in on time 😉.

Hue(bubble colored) is more care free and silly , and for those of you who are wondering I've decided to keep his hairstyle with the banded braids the way it is, it's grown on me.

And Nyx(who went through a few name changes 😂) is more quite and laid back, though he's no stranger to fun himself.

Also his right eye, the one that looks more orange yellow is supposed to be purple on top Fading Into the orange but it'll come out better in another picture I just didn't feel like digitally altering it but this is what it's supposed to look like

Now that I think about it I wish I would have done another color example like a bright color and the rainbow Spectrum to show an opal example of that but I can always do that later.

I've decided that Bing is going to be a flame point opal troll, seeing how I've made Siamese trolls in the past I really didn't see a reason why I shouldn't now LOL

Oh man😂😂 Hue’s base color looks very rainbowy, can’t wait till he drys so I can tone him down with some white colored pencil highlights. Also his hair color will remain similar but I'll probably change the style of his hair as I don't think it quite suits him as much as I'd like .

Oh yeah you guys don’t know much about Hue or Nyx on here, well except for( @sunshineafter @lantherien @madamphoenixdiamond and @tealbull81 , who have each been a part of my spitballing idea process and decision-making with this new color variant of trolls, thanks guys 😘), well they’re part of a new troll color variant I’m working on Opal trolls. I’ll post more on that later when they’re finished though.
