@giallifilm, karolina said: tell me a story. ( preacher's daughter prompts / accepting )
"you know i write horror," she warns in preface, a polite reminder to the other woman of her usual fare. for a moment, she wonders whether a woman like karolina would want to hear a scary story, ( whether she would find comfort in it or whether it would hurt more than it helped ).
"once upon a time," she begins wistfully, lingering in her thoughts as she searches for the right story and the right words. she settles beside the other woman and offers her a place in her lap as she continues. "there was a ghost. one of those sweet ghosts who wears a bed sheet over their head and cuts out little eye holes to see. she was quiet, patient, always watching but never threatening, just curious. her name was leigh.
"one day, she saw this girl, about the age she was when she died, a beautiful girl with dark brown hair in perfectly plaited braids. she followed her around the schoolyard she haunted, watching her all day. this girl's name was rose and she was just as lonely as leigh, struggling with her classes, always... far off, unfocused... and she didn't seem to have any friends, in fact the other kids seemed to pick on her anytime they acknowledged her existence..."
