      She wasn’t much a fan of flowers ---never had been, despite being gifted an innumerable amount of roses over the years by men who thought they were being clever. It wasn’t the roses she ever wanted, it was a genuine sentiment behind the gifting of them; if that was present, only then could they be appreciated. Yet, here she was at the florist’s, poking through various bouquets (of anything but roses, mind you). She thought her hotel room could use some sprucing up, if she was going to be there for a while, but she wanted something she couldn’t kill too easily. Something that didn’t need much sunlight, or much attention from someone as likely to forget about it as she was. 

     She spotted an attendant, and offered a polite smile. “What do you have that’s hard to kill?” An odd question, perhaps, but she imagined there were plenty of people who had wondered the same thing before her.
