Storybrooke Verse!!!
Captain Jack Sparrow/ Jack Teague
In Storybrooke, while still under the curse, Jack is much the same person. He has a job working down at the wharf on the ships docked there, usually maintenance and upkeep of the historical vessels housed there, but sometimes he passes himself off as a tour guide and takes the ship out into the bay. If it weren’t for his father presiding over the historical society in Storybrooke, Jack would likely have been fired a long time ago for such antics. He’s always talking about leaving for good, going out on the open ocean and exploring the world beyond the quaint and too quiet town, but of course, he’s trapped like everyone else. He’s just far more aware of being trapped. And because of this, he alternates between trouble making and sinking into frequent, dark depressions where he can be found trying to drown himself in a bottle of rum. He’s a frequent guest of the Sherrif’s department, though he’s been deemed largely harmless to everyone except himself.
Jack’s ship; The Black Pearl, is presently cursed and trapped in a bottle inside Mr. Gold’s pawn shop, though Jack of course is not aware of it.
Jack is good-natured, silver-tongued, affectionate, somewhat promiscuous, openly bi-sexual, adrenaline junkie who rebels against nearly every form of authority he comes across. But there’s a grand heroic streak beneath all that sneakiness and trouble-making. He just needs to be given the right opportunity to show it.
Captain Hector Barbossa/ Hector Caspian
Hector, like Jack, finds himself often at the wharf but as a curiator for the ships and largely works at the small museum in Storybrooke, which is of course filled up with completely fictional accounts of the town’s history, since it did not exist before the curse.
Hector’s a blunt, reserved man who largely keeps to himself. He has to put up with Jack’s antics frequently, finding himself drawn to the man’s company despite his outward frustrations with him and disdain for Jack’s devil-may-care lifestyle. Hector’s usually the one who gets the 2 am phone call for bail--not Teague.
Like Jack, Hector experiences feelings of being trapped and of not quite belonging in Storybrooke. The more he tries to verify facts about the town and it’s historical significant the more he’s perplexed and soon senses a conspiracy going on, knowing that both Mr. Gold and Mayor Mills are key players in it. He plays his hand very carefully, wining and dining his way into the inner circles of the town, trying to discover it’s secrets in hopes of finding answers for himself as well as the others.
Hector is blunt, a dead-pan snarker, frequents cafes and prefers the company of no one but himself. He takes to Jack out of some odd sense of responsibility that sometimes boarders on love, but never quite gets there. They always seem eager to sabotage themselves. Hector is also openly bi-sexual but is less eager to flaunt it--not really anyone’s business is it? He might consider spending an even or two with the right person but don’t expect to worm your way into his heart right away. Hector’s a suspicious old bastard who trust no one easily. Everyone has a motive and everyone has a price. He’s fond of small animals and music and culinary pursuits. Plays the fiddle on occasion. Actual sweetheart under layers and layers of snark, sarcasm and cynicism.
