2019 Writing Goals
Looking back, 2018 was not a very good year for me writing wise. Especially if you compare it 2017, which was a banner year for me on that front with nearly half a million words written across multiple projects. Then I spent the majority of 2018 pregnant which took a surprisingly high toll on my ability to write. My evening time that used to be dedicated to parking myself behind a keyboard and writing was instead used for rest and sleep.
Now that the baby is born, my beautiful bundle of joy who was worth every tired evening where I napped instead of wrote, I have gotten my energy back (even with the interrupted sleep pattern that comes with having a newborn). And its time to get back on the writing horse.
That being said my New Years Resolution is to write every day. EVERY. DAY. Whether it be a hundred words or a couple thousand I am going to set the goal to write something on one of my open projects every day. I am also not going to open any new projects until I close the book on one of the open works I have in progress.
Below is listed my current works in progress and the goals I have for them this year. (Listed in chronological order of when I began writing them.)
Womb with a View
Fandom: Horizon Zero Dawn
Ship: Aloy/Erend (Ereloy)
Current Wordcount: 73,741
Summary: This is the sequel to the behemoth I wrote in 2017 called After the Shadow’s Pass, which was a novel length action/adventure and romance. WwaV followed the now very happy couple as they navigated Aloy’s surprise pregnancy and the first few months of their child’s life up until the naming ceremony.
Goals: FINISH IT. This piece has been sitting just a handful of chapters from being complete for months. I allowed myself to be distracted from it by another franchise and also was just sort of burned out after writing almost solely for this ship for almost a year and a half. I am already working on the next couple chapters for it though, and am happy to report progress is already in motion.
Need the Sun to Break
Fandom: Horizon Zero Dawn
Ship: Aloy/Erend (Ereloy)
Current Wordcount: 91,268
Summary: Aloy returns to Meridian two years after departing it, and leaving the man she loved behind, to resurrect GAIA. Focuses not only on the dynamic between Aloy and Erend, a man who had allowed her departure to embitter him, but also on the relationship between Aloy and GAIA, who has proven to be very involved in all things including Aloy’s love life.
Goals: Resurrect the fic. It’s been dormant for nearly a year as I had shoved it to the side to focus on WwaV when I first got pregnant in hopes that only having one fic on my plate would help (it did for a little while) but I had plans for this story and I hope to see them through this year.
A Promising Connection
Fandom: Star Wars Rebels
Ship: Kanan Jarrus/ Hera Syndulla (Kanera)
Current Wordcount: 23,928
Summary: My take on the years between A New Dawn in which the pair meet and the canon episodes of the show and how their relationship grew and developed into the dynamic we all came to love on Rebels.
Goals: Get this moving in some sort of posting rhythm. I have huge chunks written for down the line and notes for other parts, I just need to get it into a reliable motion.
(As Yet Untitled & Unpublished)
Fandom: Star Wars Rebels
Ship: Alexsandr Kallus/ Garizeb Orrelios (Kalluzeb)
Background Ship: Kanan Jarrus/ Hera Syndulla (Kanera)
Current Wordcount: 11,423
Summary: After defecting from the Empire, Kallus settles into the Rebellion and developes a surprising relationship with his former nemesis Zeb.
Goals: Get this to the point where I’m publishing it. I learned my lesson after posting the Kanera story before it was ready and this time I’m planning on writing much more of the fic before ever posting it on Ao3. I’ve been enjoying developing it though, its my first enemies to friends to lovers trope.
