Asgard was no more.
Minx hadn’t been able to see it coming. Everything had worked out perfectly since his arrival in Asgard. He’d made friends, found a job for himself, and lived in a nice village. He was set, he thought. Minx enjoyed his life and what he had, for now. Of course, he was looking to expand his life in the future but for now, he was content servicing clients.
Well, until Asgard was destroyed in Ragnarok. Minx was barely able to make it out alive. He’d been one of the last to climb onto that ship to safety and even then, people didn’t want him on. They didn’t want to save a measly courtesan. Minx was offended at that.
However, they were right. Loki was nothing. His entire life as a courtesan was one he was proud of, not ashamed. His people loved him and he was treated highly. That moment on the ship when people were telling him to save room for the others was what changed Loki’s world. They didn’t want him on board. They didn’t think he was worthy enough to live.
After that, it was all a blur. Minx thought he was tugged on board by someone, but he wasn’t sure who. It was all blurry and he couldn’t hear things clearly. His mind was in a fog. Nothing. He was nothing, just like he was back on Jotunheim.
When prince, now king, Thor built a new Asgard on Midgard, Minx didn’t know what to do. He knew Midgard’s customs a little but he was just as much stranger as the Aesir. In fact, he was more of a commodity because he was blue and the humans didn’t know what to do with him.
Minx helped rebuild as best he could. It wasn’t easy for any of them. Eventually, he’d built a small hut again, one to operate his business out of if people even still wanted him. He had no potions, no salves or medicine like he had back on Asgard. Everything he cared about was gone and Loki was taking it hard.
Loki put on a smile and restarted his trade. He was the same chipper, saucy courtesan he’d always been. Or was he? Perhaps no one noticed he’d changed. It didn’t matter, as long as he did his job, and he did. Maybe this was the new start he’d been waiting for. He didn’t know and his mental state wasn’t in a good enough place to make those big decisions. Minx was terrified and alone. So he fell back onto his comfort zone, being a courtesan.
