How open are you to the possibility of time travel?
A phm time travel blurb that I may or may not continue. Thought I'd share in case anyone else wanted to see :3
"Dimitri?"
Dimitri stepped fully into the room. In front of him were half a dozen whiteboards with sprawling calculations in Dr. Grace's neat handwriting. He recognized some of them in relation to time dilation, but focused instead on the man at the center of the chaos.
Dr. Grace looked weary; all of his usual jitters were still there, but he appeared just that much more exhausted. The marker in his hand kept writing. He was balancing an equation, one that stretched half the board.
"Grace," Dimitri offered him a smile, "are you feeling well?"
From what Dimitri knew of Dr. Grace, he was perpetually awkward while nervous and confident in turns. He's heard the man laugh before, Dimitri has made the man laugh before. This laugh was different. It sounded as tired as he looked, with a hint of mania and fear that scared Dimitri more than he was willing to admit.
"I've certianly been better."
Something happened. Dr. Grace is running calculations and stressed out of his mind.
"Is is something with the Astrophage?"
"Oh I wish this was Astrophage, Dimitri," he caped his marker and stepped back, taking in the boards as a whole. "At least then I'd have some idea of what the heck happened."
He hesitated. This is something Stratt should be made aware of. Even if there was nothing actually wrong with Project Hail Mary, Dr. Grace was too integral to the team to be suffering a psychotic break right now. But why go to Stratt with partial information and no solution?
Dimitri knew enough about the math on the boards to begin checking his colleague's work, but there was obviously something missing. "Walk me though it."
Dr. Grace looked at him for a long moment, deciding something. With a glance back to the boards, he asked, "How open are you to the possibility of time travel?"
