Join our joint workshop with AEDES,FutureCityLab, Design 2.0 Meet up and Architectuul in order to built up the furniture and design the next revision. The workshop will take place on the 2nd and 3rd of June.
OpenFurniture Prototypes
OpenSimSim and Eternit have completed prototype models for the Tumblr Stool and Folding Chair. There is only one minor error with the Tumblr Stool, but everything else is coming together quite well. We are finishing up a prototype model for the Folding Stool and we will be ready to exhibit the final designs at the Future City Lab exhibit in Berlin.
Open Furniture
Over the last four weeks, OpenSimSim has crowdsourced designs for FutureCityLab in partnership with Eternit, Aedes Gallery, and BMW Guggenheim Lab in Berlin. We are proud to announce the three designs that will be fabricated and showcased at the exhibit. The designs are:

Phase 2 of OpenFurniture will start after the Future City Lab exhibit. The feedback generated from the crowd will provide the starting point for the next series of ideas and improvements to the open source design. Sandwich Stool
By using a 1200mm x 1300mm sheet of material we are able to construct support ribs (sheets) that could be attached together in various ways, ie. glue, screws, tension bands, etc. By using nearly all of the material per sheet, we would maximize our output and be able to produce 19 stools, per 30 square meters of material.

Folding Chair
Following OpenSimSim's discussion with Marcel Bilow, the Folding Chair utilizes the 3F technology and weaving techniques. Four concrete panels can be cut from 1 sqm of material and have the rubber strips blind riveted. A series of holes will be water-jetted and strung together with nylon cord. What do you think?
Kyle Rogler - OSS Kansas
Stacked Chair - Using a 1.00x1.25 fiberconcrete sheet, the idea is waterjet whatever shape we want and assemble it with drilled pieces of fiberconcrete in between the pieces, then glue them and hold them tight with threaded rod through all the pieces. At the end of each rod we can use nuts to hold them tight. This is the first idea of what could a feasible system to fabricate the chairs. What do you think?
