Yesterday my dad had coronary artery bypass open heart surgery because he had dozens and dozens of blockages in his heart and one of them was blocked at 90%. It was very necessary to do because his father and his two aunts both passed away from heart disease and the genes are very strong, unfortunately. But my dad is stronger. He’s one of the strongest people I know already and going through this proved it even more. It’s one of the scariest things our family has ever gone through, but we are sticking together and making it through. The surgery was successful thank god, and there were no complications and within 3.5 hours of the surgery being done, his breathing tube was out and he was breathing on his own. Normally that takes at least 6-7 hours but he was doing very well and he’s on the fast track to recovery. He’s in the icu and while I was sitting there holding his hand and telling him I love him, I realized something. My father and I have never been so super close and we butt heads a lot, but in this moment I realized none of that mattered. All that mattered was my dad needing me and me being there for him as much as possible. I know he’s in pain and discomfort and it hurts seeing him like that, but day by day it gets better. Stay strong, Abba. We all love you so so much and we’re going to get through this, I promise. ❤️ #coronaryarterybypass #openheartsurgery #surgery (at Hackensack University Medical Center)
