I went away for a week and now I have followers! Thanks everyone!
This is a good opportunity to say that I’ve changed track a bit with how I’m doing my self study. The courses through EdX that I was going through with the “free” option didn’t give me very much material. Ive decided instead to make my own study plan using OpenStax books. We even used the Openstax chem book in my college chem 1 class so I think it’ll be easier to get back into the groove with something familiar. I’m developing my “schedule” and I’ll post a picture here once I’ve made it all pretty.
(Note about pictures, I use this Tumblr account exclusively on my laptop and my phone camera is crap anyways, so I won’t usually post my own pictures. I do reblog lots of aesthetically pleasing pictures from other people.)
Since 9 whole people will see this, I’ll introduce myself:
My name is Rose and I am 23 years old. I (virtually) graduated from college in may with a BA in geology. My original plan for after graduation was to move in with friends in Philly for a year, find an office type job, and spend that time either looking for graduate schools or preparing for the ASBOG (association of state boards of geology) to become an licensed geologist.
That...wasn’t possible so I moved back into my parents house. I’m working part time as a baker in a grocery store, which is a pretty enjoyable job honestly, but I’ve realized in the 4 months I’ve been home that I really don’t want to be here for longer than I have to. Don’t get me wrong I love the area I grew up in and I love being close to my family, but I don’t have a connection with anyone my age.
I left my school district at 14 to go to a boarding school, then went abroad for a year, then went to college several states over. Ordinarily I could get to know the college kids in this town since there are LOTS of them and the local university has a wonderful geology program, but the pandemic put a stop to that. I also don’t really want to make connections that would sway me from leaving when I can.
Anyways, that’s a bit (probably too much) about me. Next time I’ll write about what grad school direction I’m thinking about. May get more personal.
Bye for now
