Sneak park of my installation with video projection for my piece, “Cast Away, Buried Alive” as part of the “Invasive Species” show. In my installation, the idea of invasive species took the form of emotions and thoughts that became something the host did not want to deal with, that felt like invaders of the mind. The piece portrays the emotional work that goes into keeping up a perfect facade under these conditions. See if you can spot where the cracks are forming in this facade as well as what presents the physical and what represents the emotional. Objects in the installation tell the story of the boiling point where the repression of ignored emotions and trauma, after several warnings, finally take their toll. The show opens tonight 6-9.
