ELLIE PHIMISTER --- a.k.a. NEGASONIC TEENAGE WARHEAD --- OPEN!

"Alright, you’ve got me in a box!”

Ellie Phimister started her mutant career as a student of Emma Frost at the Massachusetts Academy. Ellie was a good student who struck up a good student-teacher relationship with the head mistress, Emma. It was at the Massachusetts Academy that Ellie chose her code name, Negasonic Teenage Warhead, and insisted on everyone else using it from then on. Most people who met her from this point did not know her real name was Ellie Phimister.

Negasonic would have been content to stay at the Massachusetts Academy but Emma Frost suggested that Negasonic transfer to the Xavier School for Gifted Youngsters as part of Frost’s bid to unite the two schools together in light of the introduction of the Sokovia Accords. Once Negasonic had settled in at her new school, she was mentored by Colossus and accompanied him on many of his missions as part of her training. This led to Negasonic meeting Deadpool who at first annoyed her and got under her skin with his constant talking and wise-cracking. Eventually Deadpool did manage to break through to Negasonic, not that Negasonic will admit that too loudly.

While Negasonic has yet to be named as a part of the main line-up for the X-Men, she has continued to play a vital support role to the team. Her level headed approach to things certainly helps during training sessions and while she can use sarcasm like a weapon, she remains patient throughout almost any situation. Her talents in the training situations has made her stand out and some of the more senior members of the team believe she would make a good teacher of young mutants.

Negasonic disapproves of the Sokovia Accords as much as any other mutant and disapproves even more of Secretary of State Thaddeus Ross. Perhaps having spent a lot of time with Emma Frost has taught Negasonic to try and see past the public image certain people and politicians put on and she remains suspicious of Ross’s intentions behind the Accords. Because a guy like that cares more about power than the safety of his fellow citizens.

Abilities:

Self-detonation - she channels heat and pressure and forces them out quickly in an explosion. She can control the size of the explosion.

Skilled hand-to-hand combatant.

EMMA FROST --- a.k.a. the WHITE QUEEN --- OPEN!

“Of course I'm a threat. Why? Did you think for a moment that I wasn't?”

One of three daughters who all developed telepathic abilities thanks to mutation, Emma Frost grew up in the wealthy part of Boston with her family. Her father often expressed how disappointed he was in Emma since she struggled to achieve good grades and was a social outcast which severely damaged Emma’s self esteem. When Emma’s telepathy emerged when she reached puberty, she used it to her advantage. She used it to gain much grades and to excel in her studies. A downside to her new power was the terrible migraines she suffered but Emma considered them a small price to pay.

Emma decided that her career goal was to be a teacher but this choice was not good enough for her father. Instead he tried to name Emma as his heir of the family’s estate and wealth but she refused it, stating that she’d rather make her own way in life. She took a minimum wage job and attempted to build a life for herself. Despite her young age, she worked her way up to being a a majority shareholder of a multi-billion dollar conglomerate, renamed Frost International after her. Emma also became a chairperson of the Massachusetts Academy where she served as the headmistress, finally realising her goal of being a teacher.

Emma’s talents and natural beauty caught the attention of the Hellfire Club. She was invited to join their ranks which she accepted. Along with Sebastian Shaw, a fellow mutant, Emma staged a coop of the leaders of the Club and herself and Sebastian took over the ownership. Sebastian called himself the Black King and Emma was the White Queen. They both used the Club’s resources to protect mutant kind by any means necessary, often getting themselves into trouble with the X-Men who wanted to keep the peace between mutants and humans. Emma saw humans as being beneath her and grew frustrated with the X-Men ruining her plans. Emma recruited her mutants to train at her school so that she might be able to use them in the Hellfire Club’s plans.

Emma now has her sights set fully on the X-Men. There are a few of them she thinks would be useful for both her school and the Hellfire Club. However first she has to earn their trust. So she has reached out to the X-Men and Xavier’s School for Gifted Youngsters in light of the Sokovia Accords, saying mutants should unite so they can’t be bullied by this latest piece of legislation. She might be extremely charming, but will her schemes work considering the history she has shared with the heroes?

Abilities: 

Telepathy - one of the world’s most powerful telepaths.

Organic diamond form - Emma can change her form to be made of organic diamond substance. When transformed, Emma cannot access her telepathic abilities.

Expert technician and master combatant, both on physical and astral realms.

NEENA THURMAN --- a.k.a. DOMINO --- OPEN!

     “ Give me one good reason why I shouldn't blow your head off after what you've done to me. “

Born from a top-secret government breeding program, Domino was the only test subject to survive their attempt to develop the perfect weapon.  Despite the fact she thrived, her “luck” power didn’t meet the project’s goals and they considered her a failure.  Broken out of the project by her biological mother, she found a new home in the Church of the Sacred Heart with Father Rudolpho Boschelli.  That life, not one that suited her, she eventually escaped the church and became a mercenary.

While working for the NSA, she was assigned to guard a man whose analytical ability made him too dangerous for the government not to watch.  Over time Domino fell in love with her charge, Dr. Milo Thurman.  He is also the one that gave her the nickname Beatrice, in part due to his affection for Dante’s Inferno.  The two separated after a raid on the facility by AIM members, with Milo believing she’d been killed during the action.

Surviving the fight, Domino continued her mercenary work while searching for her husband.  Eventually, she found him, only to discover villains that had captured Milo Thurman and were attempting to download his mind into a computer.  They wanted his analytical ability in a form they could control and direct.  Faced with a terrible choice, Dom managed to stop the process, but it cost her husband his life.  Grieving, she lost herself in mercenary work as she tried to get through the pain.

Currently, Charles Xavier is keeping tabs on her as a potential recruit for future mutant teams.  He doesn’t wish to intrude on her grieving process too early, believing that might chase her away from his endeavors. 

As the product of a former government program, even though she’s deemed as a failure, Ross would greatly like to get his hands on her.  With the threat of the accords, and other legislation against mutants and those with powers Domino has been working under the radar of the government. Domino is anti-accords or anything that would require her to register. 

Abilities:

Probability Manipulation: the ability to subliminally and psionically initiate random kinetic phenomena that affect probability in her favor by making improbable (but not impossible) things to occur within her line of sight, thus causing her to have "good luck" and her opponents to have "bad luck."

Enhanced Agility & Reflexes: her cerebral cortex emits a current of bio-electric pulses down her spine to instinctively guide her movements during such situations, which has the added effect of augmenting her natural reflexes and agility to near-superhuman levels.

Superb marksman with various firearms, highly skilled athlete, excellent swimmer, adept in the use of explosives. Extensive training in various armed combat techniques and the martial arts. She also seems to be fluent in multiple languages.

SEAN CASSIDY --- a.k.a. BANSHEE --- OPEN!

“Ye'd best cover yer ears, kids... this is goin' to hurt some!”

After graduating from university, Sean Cassidy gained a position at Interpol as an agent. He kept his mutant identity secret, even from those closest to him for fear of prejudice. He met and fell in love with Maeve Rourke and the two of them got married. Around the same time, Sean was promoted to the rank of Inspector at Interpol. Life was going well for Sean.

That was until he was assigned a secret mission that meant he would need to spend a lot of time away from his new wife, Maeve. Unbeknownst to Sean and Maeve, Maeve was pregnant when Sean left for his mission. Maeve gave birth to a daughter while Sean was still away and unable to receive this happy news. Maeve took her daughter, Theresa, to see some family in Belfast but was involved in a terrorist attack on the city. Maeve died of her injuries and Theresa was taken away by the authorities. When Sean returned from his mission, he was told that his wife had died but no one told him about the birth and disappearance of Theresa. Devastated by the loss of his wife, Sean threw himself into his work. This did not do anything to minimise his grief and so Sean left Interpol and began to do freelance work, some of which was illegal.

While doing the freelance work, a gang of not-so-pleasant mercenaries learned of Sean, now calling himself Banshee, and his mutant ability and talents. They managed to coerce Sean into working for them, even though Sean did try to escape them. Eventually the gang and Banshee ended up fighting the X-Men. At the first opportunity, Banshee told the the X-Men everything he knew about the gang and their activities. He had enough evidence on them to send them to prison for a long time. The X-Men offered Banshee a place at the Xavier mansion which he accepted.

Sean’s life is much better now and certainly a lot more crime-free. While he is too old to attend Xavier’s School for Gifted Youngsters, Sean does take advantage of the training facilities available both at the school and in the mansion. He has earned a place on the X-Men team and gets on well with the other team members. Sean does have his concerns about the Sokovia Accords and what they will mean for mutant-kind, but generally he avoids getting involved with the politics.

Abilities:

Acoustikinesis - he is able to produce incredible sonic waves with his voice and he can use those waves for various tasks, such as flight, sonar, and sonic blasts.

Gifted detective and seasoned undercover operative.

Skilled combatant who is well versed in combat tactics and strategy.

SCOTT SUMMERS --- a.k.a. CYCLOPS --- OPEN!

“Listen to me... You can't kill an idea. It always comes back. Resurrected. Or reborn... into a different form.”

Scott and his family were flying home from a family vacation when disaster struck. Scott’s father, an experienced pilot with the US Air Force, was flying the plane and it got into serious trouble. Scott’s mother got her two sons, Scott and his brother, Alex, strapped into a parachute and out of the plane moments before it crashed, killing both of Scott’s parents. The boys’ parachute got caught fire during their descent. Scott had to use his mutant ability of optic blasts to slow them down; however it wasn’t enough to prevent Scott hitting his head and causing brain damage to the area that could control his optic blasts. The boys were discovered and taken to hospital.

The boys were separated as Scott needed further medical attention so Alex was adopted while Scott remained hospitalised. Eventually he was released from hospital and put into a boys home. As he got older, it became more and more difficult for Scott to control his eye blasts. He was given specialist rose-quartz glasses that enabled him to see without obliterating everything in his sight. News of his power spread and he was approached by Professor Charles Xavier to join his new School for Gifted Youngsters.

Scott received the training he required to begin to master his mutant ability. He became the deputy leader of the first X-Men team, featuring Ice Man, Beast, Angel and Marvel Girl, who would become known as Phoenix later on. Scott’s social skills were lacking and often acted shy around the others but especially around Jean Grey (Marvel Girl). His confidence did grow over time the longer he served with the X-Men.

Scott takes his leadership responsibilities seriously and will often spend time with his fellow team members to ensure strategies are in place for almost every eventuality. He even formed a team called X-Force to deal with the shadier side of X-Men business. But with the Sokovia Accords being brought in, Scott disbanded X-Force and is currently keeping a tight leash on the X-Men’s activities to keep Secretary of State away from their business. Scott understands obeying the rules is probably for the best, but he is willing to do whatever it takes to protect mutant-kind.

Abilities:

Optic blasts - Cyclops has to wear a visor to cover his eyes and 

Expert pilot.

JUBILATION LEE --- a.k.a. JUBILEE --- OPEN!

“When I was with the X-Men, Professor Xavier taught us the only thing worse than failing is not even trying.”

Jubilation Lee, Jubilee to her friends, was just chilling at the mall one day, minding her own business, when mall security decided they didn’t want her hanging around and loitering. A chase started and the stress of it caused Jubilee’s mutant power to be triggered. She was able to escape the security guards by producing blinding, brightly coloured flashes, similar to fireworks. A member of the X-Men, Ororo Munroe, happened to be at the mall when all of this was happening and managed to track Jubilee down afterwards. Ororo offered to take Jubilee to the school she worked at so Jubliee could train her powers. Jubilee, an orphan with nowhere else to go, accepted.

Jubilee became one of the more popular students at the school, often welcoming in new students and showing them the ropes. She also managed to form close bonds with some of the older X-Men, especially Wolverine, and was often depended on to brighten people’s days after tough times. Through her father-daughter type relationship with Wolverine, Jubilee became proficient in various forms of martial arts and she often joked that she was Wolverine’s unofficial side-kick.

Over time Jubilee established herself as a member of the X-Men although she did not serve on as many missions as some of the others. She usually focused more on her school work than saving the day, but made it clear that she was determined to be a full time member of the team once she graduated from school.

When she recently graduated school, the Sokovia Accords were being applied to all super-powered beings and the X-Men’s activities were extremely limited as a result. Jubilee was called on by Wolverine to do something she should keep secret from the others, including her closest friends like Kitty Pryde and Illyana Rasputina: help the former Captain America, Steve Rogers, and his team when they return to US soil.

Abilities:

Generate brightly coloured light energy, similar to that of fireworks.

Skilled martial artist.

Skilled acrobat and gymnast.

JEAN GREY --- PHOENIX --- OPEN!

“We come into this world alone and we leave the same way. The time we spent in between - time spent alive, sharing, learning together... is all that makes life worth living.”

When Jean Grey was a young girl, she witnessed her best friend die following a car accident. This traumatic event triggered Jean’s mutant telepathic ability and as such Jean suffered because of it. She was unable to control her ability and she had to cut herself off from other people. She fell into a state of depression and her parents were extremely worried about her. Following the advice of a psychiatrist, Jean’s parents contacted Professor Charles Xavier and asked for his help. Xavier agreed to take Jean to his school where he could work with her to control her telepathy.

With Xavier’s training, Jean flourished and discovered that in addition to her telepathic ability, she had telekinetic powers too. Jean joined the brand new X-Men team with Cyclops, Beast, Angel and Ice-Man and began her crime fighting, superhero career. Even when she graduated from Xavier’s School and went to college, she continued to work with the X-Men part-time. 

Jean came back to Xavier’s School after graduating college to work as a researcher and part-time teacher. She often spoke at government committees, representing mutants and presenting new research about the effect of mutants on modern society. Now she had reached a certain level of maturity, Xavier revealed he had put in mental blocks within Jean’s mind to help her control her abilities and told her it was now time to remove those blocks. Jean was shaken by this revelation and made her question how much she trusted the Professor.

Jean continues to work at the School and assisting Hank McCoy with his work at the Office of Mutant Affairs. She does not agree with the terms stated in the Sokovia Accords and she definitely does not agree with the methods Secretary of State Ross is employing to force the super-powered community into signing the Accords paperwork. After all, if her nightmares are anything to go by, the world will soon be facing problems that the Accords would do nothing to save everyone.

Abilities:

Telepathy - Jean is credited with being one of the world’s most powerful telepaths and she can use the Cerebro machine to locate other mutants.

Telekinesis.

Astral projection.
