The famous Carmen. But also... the famous Micaela, right? Let’s don’t forget her. Because she is also so important and fragile, but Don José have other plans.

Mozart - "Ein Mädchen oder Weibchen” from The Magic Flute (1791)
Near the end of the opera we get this charming song from Papageno talking about how he wants a woman to love. It is naive, childish, sentimental, and borderline kitsch. It is also bright, colorful, and magical. The use of the celesta makes this part of the most colorful score of the 18th century. It’s almost proto-romantic in being a German work infatuated with magic and fairy tales. It never fails to put a smile on my face.
When your talented friend finishes an aria and you just want to give them feedback.
