As you are breeding your inhabitants, I am wondering if you are planning on giving them to other fitting facilities or planning on branches of Huxley in other countries? So far I really adore Lazarus and the thylacines. Would spend a whole day in the petting zoo cuddling Dodos.
Love to hear that! We don’t plan on giving any prehistoric animals* to other institutions, and as of now no plans for sister sites have been made. We only allow our animals to breed if we’re confident in our ability to house and care for the offspring throughout their life cycles - many exhibits were built to house more individuals than they had on opening day, and there are several behind-the-scenes enclosures reserved just in case. All our animals are either engineered sterile or are on birth control by default, and no breeding happens without staff approval.
* I should mention that this doesn’t apply to all of our animals! As is often the case, recent extinctions are different. We are working with other institutions for the protected rewilding of some Pleistocene animals, and as they effectively become critically endangered species, Holocene animals being reintroduced may be given to other facilities in due time. Who knows - dodos may appear at your local zoo in the near future!
