Would firefighters realistically help members of the public retrieve a cat from up a tree or down a drain?

Yes and no. It all depends on department SOP and policies. If the department has a policy that allows for it, then absolutely. If not, then no. In some cases, departments do not handle those types of emergencies for reasons of staffing and, like always, liability. I personally have never participated in such a rescue, because my department does not allow it on department time.

Soo... I was listening to some rap yesterday, and the artist said something along the lines of, "Because I'm the OG!"

And I was like... "You're the Operating Guidelines, wut?"

And then it all made sense.
