Shackled Dreams
THOUGHTS FROM MY TOUR OF PROJECT STREAMLINE
Perhaps because they are walked into court in shackles, around the waist, wrists, and ankles, those nearby are led to believe these people are high collar criminals. Look at this picture I took at a project streamline court hearing in Nogales, AZ. White collar criminals are decked in suits in their court hearings- and these people- what? Are pick pockets? Are day laborers? Someone who had a lil light out on the quota time of the month? They are SHACKLED.
LATER IN NOGALES, ARIZONA
I walked into the church and realized, they’re all just… People. They don’t know what the answer is, either.
It seems the governor is pulling the wool over everybody’s eyes. Not just the migrants’. They have created in the people of Arizona on the US border the idea that the don’t know how Mexico is going to change their economy- but that they’ve got to… Without realizing the role that the U.S. plays in controlling Mexican farms and selling their product at a rate the farmers can not survive on. It becomes a grasp for hope- or survival- and what’s the difference between those two words, really?
