SOPH I WATCHED RHE FIRST EP OF THE WEDNESDAY SHOW AND WOAHGH. I’m so intrigued and also a little confused!!!!! I’m Aware of the addams family n their lore n things but I haven’t watched any of it so there’s probably stuff im not picking up on??? but yeah overall enjoying it!!!! what are your thoughts as my addams family mutual?? as the expert :)

Well as the resident Addams family mutual, I will use my expertise to say a few things:

I thoroughly enjoyed the first episode, as you can see from my new pfp (it’s Enid)! I’m SO intrigued by the mystery element, and I’m a sucker for anything Jenna Ortega so I was kinda bound to love it. I also liked the new characters, and Luis Guzman is such an adorable Gomez omg I wanna hug him! I generally think this is gonna be a good show outside of it being an Addams Family adaptation.

That being said, it’s not a great place to start as a new Addams Family fan. I didn’t enjoy Pugsley’s characterization, and I’m hoping it’ll change but considering he’s only in one episode I don’t think it will :( I also didn’t like CZJ as Morticia, which sucks bc I loved her in Chicago. I also think the whole premise isn’t very Addams-family-ish? The whole point of earlier adaptations is how the family toes the line between “abnormal” and “normal,” so having this series fall pretty much on one side was disappointing. If you wanna get a feel for what the rest of the franchise is like, I’d recommend the ‘60s sitcom or the ‘90s movies!

The other thing I’ll say is that the 2010 musical did almost everything this show was trying to do and better. Providing a more “modern” take on the family? Check. Giving Wednesday some new, more mature characterization? Check. Fantastic side characters? Check. Likable love interest for Wednesday? Check. Giving Wednesday and Morticia a strained relationship? Check. Morticia being played by a former Velma Kelly? Check. My point? Listen to the musical you will love Andrew Lippa’s ocs

Corey Corey you’re KILLING me (pos) from the come from away posting. literally I have never wanted to watch a musical more. it’s been performed in my city not once but TWICE and I haven’t seen it which is incredibly evil!!! it seems like such a good show and yeah,,,,, yeah

see, the trick is, i somehow got both my parents super invested in the show and they’re divorced so they won’t go see it with each other, so then i got to see the tour twice this weekend since it’s at the local theatre and then the first time i saw it was on broadway and my dad took me there to try and one up my mom which like sucked but at least i got cfa out of it lol definitely makes up for it but then yeah, saw the tour twice before covid, once with my mom, once with my dad <3

i hope you can see it sometime truly it’s such a beautiful show and seeing it live hits differently… the impact is even more just… ough and it’s already ough with just the soundtrack ahhhhh

also i love marika. seen her four times. love her. that’s all <3
