Have you ever done OPK testing? I mean you really do need to hold your urine for 2-4hrs/5hrs max. I dealt with opk testing with my wife, with myself when TTC and again now, I get negatives when I should and Positives when I should. Let me just break it down for you.

• A positive OPK is signaled by a “test line” that is identical to the “control line” in boldness. It can even be bolder than the control.

• A faint LH test line does not indicate the LH-Surge. Why? Because low levels of LH can be in your system throughout your menstrual cycle.

• The LH-Surge is quick: A positive result can last just one day. You may see two days of positive results (LH on the way up - and the way down).

Do not use first morning urine for ovulation tests:

Collect urine between late morning and early evening. And test at the same time every day!

Do not pee for about four hours before taking a urine sample (to avoid a diluted sample).

• Consider testing twice a day: With our very affordable test strips, this is certainly an option!

• Try to avoid drinking a lot of liquids directly prior to testing (again, so as not to dilute the urine).

I said I held mine for 4-5hrs and for her to hold for 4-5 hrs, minium hold time of 3 hours if she can’t hold that long. I haven’t had a false positive because quite frank I don’t think you can, you either have LH levels enough to get a positive or you don’t. TTC TIP: example of urine levels.

As you can see that sample 1 (far left) is clear, extremely diluted urine.

Sample 2 (middle) is less diluted but for opk testing it is still quite diluted and can give inaccurate test results.

Sample 3 (right)is orange colour, this is the colour you want your urine to generally look like when testing for ovulation to get more accurate test results.

So do you see the difference between sample 1 and sample 3 and why you may be getting inaccurate test results? You want your urine to be like sample 3 for best results. I hope this has helped clear any confusion or doubt up.
