The boldness of the other was something of an acquiredtaste, but it is one that Lawrence found himself to enjoy in saying it kept himon his toes. Daniel was many things, but predictable was not one of them. Theother male was constantly surprising him and it was no wonder that Lawrence hadbecome as smitten with him as he had. For a young prince that had been toldsince birth that one day the world would be his, Lawrence had known that Danielhad never meant to be included in this, but he would have it no other way.Reality was Lawrence had never wanted the world; what he wanted was Daniel andhe was willing to give himself body, mind and spirit to the other if Danielwould only allow him to.

It had been another afternoon spent at theirsecluded hideaway in the woods; the two young men enjoying the warmth of thesun and also ignoring the responsibilities of who they were. Lawrence never hadany issues when it came to coming up with excuses to explain his whereabouts,but often found himself wondering what it was Daniel told his own father.Lawrence had been sitting at the edge of the pond that their clearing wascentered around; his feet hanging over the edge as he decided his skin was fartoo warm. Stripping himself of his shirt; he gave the other a coy look beforehe was jumping into the water. The momentum only seemed to last a moment forthe water was far colder than the young prince ever could have anticipated.

When the blond was finally emerging from thewater, he was dripping wet and the little clothing he was still wearing clungto his frame. Brushing a few strands of hair out of his eyes; Lawrencesauntered towards the other as he collapsed down by his side. He had been awareof the way Daniel had been watching him, Lawrence having picked up on the lookthe other would adorn when less than appropriate thoughts were on his mind.“What’s on your mind my dear prince?” He asked as he feigned a lookof innocence. “I’d totally fuck you.” Lawrence cocked a brow as aresponse to the other’s bold words, but he could not deny the way his pulsealso quickened. “Then why don’t you?” He countered casually as helaid back against the grass; knowing if there was anything the other princecould not pass up on being a challenge.

While there were girls who were giving itaway before they really understood what it was they were doing, Adelaide simplywasn’t the same way. It wasn’t as if she looked down on those that werecomfortable with their bodies, in a way she was jealous, but being that waysimply was not who she was.

She couldn’t be certain how the topic had comeabout, but suddenly it seemed as if Tucker was interested in learning of allthe dirty laundry she kept in her closet, but much to his disappointment therewas very little that Adelaide had to hide. “How many times must I tell youthat I’m not going to answer that question?” She asked for what must havebeen the twelfth time as Tucker again wanted to know if she had slept withanyone. She didn’t understand why it was he was so curious; just because he wasso open with who he had been with in the past with her did not mean she owedhim the same curtesy. Narrowing her eyes at the male; she was graduallyreaching her breaking point and knew the only way she was going to be able toshut him up was by answering his question.

“No Tucker, I have not slept with anyone,there, you happy?” She asked gruffly as she turned away from the male withher arms stubbornly folded across her chest. She had been anticipating for himto make some kind of snide comment, but had to stop for a moment to wrap herhead around the blunt words he had to offer her. “I’d totally fuckyou.” It only took a second for Adelaide to collect her bearings; theyoung woman bringing her arm around so she could smack him on the back of thehead. “You really think such vulgar terms are going to work with me? Letme give you a little lesson Tucker; some girls like the idea of being bedded bysomeone they actually care about. Call me old fashioned but I care about who Igive my virginity to. And girls actually like when love is made to them notwhen they are simply fucked.” She scoffed, wanting nothing more than forthe topic to be dropped.

It was never easy, but Lawrence had a few times been toldthat he had a way with words, which in a way did make it easy when it came toconvincing the other prince to sneak off with him. These meetings were becomingmore and more frequent, the two neighbouring nations constantly being at eachother's throats as they only fooled themselves into thinking they would solvetheir conflict peacefully without there being any blood spilt. Lawrence knewthat behind closed doors, both nations were readying for war, a war that theyoung prince wanted nothing to do with. His father was constantly telling himthat he needed to be ready, Lawrence being forced into lessons with theguardsman who were appointed to teach him how to fight. Lawrence was foreverreluctant when it came to picking up the steel that could cut away a life inone swift motion. He was aware that the guardsman shook their heads indisappointment when he was not looking. Laughing at the idea that he was meantto one day be their king.

Combing his fingers through his locks, he navigated his waythrough the woods that outlined the structure where the meetings of war werealways held. Lawrence had had some time to explore these grounds, havingfrequented them from the time he was a young boy. There was something aboutstanding beneath the open wide sky that was refreshing for the young man. Itbrought him a sense of peace the world seemed determined to keep from him.Breathing in deeply the fresh air, he urged the other male to keep up as he ledthem deeper into the foliage. Daniel's constant foul language from behind himhad the blond chuckling to himself, the young man spinning on his heels oncethey had reached their destination. "Welcome to paradise." It was asmall clearing with a crystal clear pond that he had brought the other princeto, this being the place he often would escape to when he managed to sneak outof the meetings for a brief moment to himself. He knew it was important for himto be present, what with him being the only one that spoke with a voice ofreason. But today he wanted to show the other male what it was like to enjoylife and not always be sitting on the cusp of bringing down the rains ofdestruction.

Moving towards the water's edge, Lawrence busied himselfwith removing his boots and rolling up the ends of his trousers. He knew thescolding he would receive from his mother if he ruined any more garments.Sitting on the ground, he lowered his feet into the water and patted the spacenext to him. The hesitation of the other didn't faze him, Lawrence insteadsmiling at the other boy as he took a seat next to him. "See, this isn'tso bad, is it?" Lawrence waved his hands around in a dramatic fashion ashe spoke, his heart stilling as Daniel suddenly grabbed his wrist. "Howdid you get this?" His question at first confused the young man, but onlyuntil he realized what it was he was looking at. Lowering his hand, he placedit against the grass, the sun hitting his hand in a way that made the scar thatran down the middle of his hand more prominent. Taking Daniel's hand, he archeda brow as if to tell the other to relax for he could feel the tension runningthrough the other's body. With his other hand, he guided Daniel's fingerstowards the scar and allowed for him to trace the ragged flesh. "Thiswould be from my brother attempting to cut the royal ring off my finger. He hashorrid coordination so it is of no surprise that he failed to remove me of myfinger." He shrugged his shoulders, it being almost strange how calmly hespoke of the incident. "I have told you, peace is not something theselands have known for a long time and do you not think it is time we changedthat?"

He shouldn't be here, standing on enemy grounds, but he hadto see, had to see his grave for himself. The war had been won, but Lawrencehad lost in a way no other would understand. While his people were celebrating,Lawrence was fighting to hold himself together. Falling to his knees before thegrave, Lawrence wrapped his arms tightly around his own frame as if this wouldprevent him from falling to pieces. He had been there when it had happened,seen his own father pierce his blade through the heart of the one that ownedhis. There was nothing that could have been done, Lawrence screaming from theother side of the battlefield, but he hadn't been heard. Lowering his head, hiseyes fell shut as a ragged breath escaped him. Placing his hands against theground, his fingers dug into the dirt as if they were trying to pull Danielfrom his grave. Lawrence wanted nothing more than to take him by the shouldersand shake him for making him feel this way, but instead all that could be feltkissing his skin was the bitter bite of the cold.

With his tongue being caught his throat; the boy with thegift of speech was for the first time in his life speechless. There was so muchhe wanted to experience with Daniel, so much he wanted to learn from him andteach him in turn. He should have asked him to run away with him when he hadhad the chance. His chest heaved painfully, Lawrence in that moment collapsingin on himself. Choked sobs escaped him, the young prince for the first timesince the white flags had been waved did he allow himself to grieve. He hadworn a brave face these past few days, smiling and laughing with his fellowmen, but he felt hallow. Burying his head in his hands, he cried more than anyother would for the loss of a man he had just been beginning to understand.Daniel had been misunderstood and wounded, but Lawrence had kissed the scarsupon his skin had seen him evolve into a man that was trusting and accepting ofwhat Lawrence had to offer. They had been together with only the moon and thestars as their witnesses. The memory was one to be treasured, but letting itreplay in his head only made the tears fall harder.

"My love." He whispered. "My friend."His words were brimmed with longing, his fingers trembling as he wish to beheld one last time. He would have wanted for the other to have heard how muchhe meant to him, how much he meant to the world. With his shoulders shakingslightly, he wiped the tears from his face as he pulled his cloak up and overhis head. He couldn't stay here for much longer, not when those that would loveto return him to his own father with his heart cut out were so close by. Risingto his feet, he was overcome with the urge to clutch onto his grave and allowhimself to be found, but Daniel would never forgive him if he gave up on life.And it would be remembered that they won the war, but what had been lost wouldone day be forgotten.
