"Ooh, the pies smell good, don'tcha think?" Glancing up to Declan joining him, Ashton's curiosity got the best of him when the smells of baked pies wafted across the street and he had to just take a look at them even if he couldn't have any. "I would love to try them if I could," he sighed lightly, tearing himself back from the lovely display and collection, as more and more people were submitting their pies.
While Ashton could cook and picked up as much as he could from his mom, baking was one thing that alluded from his skill set, there was only one recipe he could replicate perfectly and that was a blueberry crumble pie from her, drilled into his brain till it was simply second nature. Everything else about the fundamentals of baking, did not get it. "Did you submit a pie in too, Declan?" He smiled to the old familiar face, once in school together and only recently seeing him pop back up. It's nice to reconnect with alumni that find their way back home. Plus, Declan may have been Ruth's ex and things were a lil awkward, but didn't stop him from being a friend. "I'll try and guess which one if you did."
