Good Morning Starshine
(Continued from HERE )
All around her was dark and cold. Too cold to shiver. A figure outlined in red light was beckoning to her... but something told her that was not the way to go. It was not where she needed to be. Sluggishly her senses stretched out into the darkness. Like hounds searching for a scent to follow they trolled the inky blackness. Balia however could clearly see herself despite the darkness that pressed in all around her. She'd look down at her hands and limbs and they were glowing. With a soft light that kept the frigid blackness from fully seeping into her. She waited, and waited. Thinking over what had happened and regretting many things. She was so tired and so frustrated that sometimes she just wanted to let the darkness take her. It would be so easy to do.
But that was not who Balia was. She was made of laughter, song, and above all fire. She burned bright with life and with the desire to live. So she waited. Till her psychical senses found the way she needed to go. Away from the beckoning form that felt distinctly of suffering and malice. She was sure that thing had something to do with the curse that was put on her. But for some reason it wouldn't... or couldn't just reach out and take her.
With a clarity she understood that it could not. It wasn't strong enough.
Not yet at least. Time was short and if she could find no help to rid her of this blight on her, she would have to BE her own help. Like it had always been.
But first there was something she needed to do. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Quiz was laying across the end of the hospital bed. Whiskers twitching as the small child that had been coming to visit for the last week walked in again. Miri was greeted with licks and a wagging tail from Aragh and a sleepy cooing hoot from Sorrin. Duchess Ava gave a chirp and sparks waved sleepily from a chair. Aragh was circling Miri as he wagged his tail. Begging for pats like the big goofball he was when it happened.
Balia's hand twitched, and then her mouth. Her eyes fluttered open only to close again like they weighed a metric ton. She fought to keep them open un-noticed by most in the room but finally they stayed open. Darting around the room as she didn't know where she was. Almost in a panic she breathed in sharply, alerting those in the room now that she wasn't asleep anymore.
