Can you trade penny stocks on OptionsXpress?

Question by conjunto31: Can you trade penny stocks on OptionsXpress? just curious. I’m doing research on stocks the past few weeks and pretty sure I am going to open an account on OptionsXpress, but want to know if you can trade penny stocks with them.

Any other beginner’s advice? Thank ya

Answer by Chris Beginner’s advice, do not invest in penny stocks. They are too volatile and you can lose your money in a second. But then again, you can make a lot in a second too.

Most penny stock companies are in debt, and will go into bankruptcy.

If you want to make real money, save until you have 1500-2000 dollars. Invest in companies that have share prices of over 3 dollars. Hold your shares long term and you will see the gains. Look at Tesla Motors (electric car company). They were below 30 dollars a year ago and are now at almost 190. If you bought 50 shares in the beginning it would cost around 1500. If you held out until now and sold… an 8000 gain. That is the potential of trading at higher prices.

I’ve been following Tesla for this time. I bought into them ( I won’t tell you how much I made…lol) because I researched TSLA and been following their CEO Elon Musk for quite a while (he founded PayPal). If you research a company like I did, you will see how great some companies really are.
