Summary: Continuation of my OptiWave story: Dark Cybertron AU where Shockwave survives but is stuck with that huge orb of energy on his chest. Now with a baby.

He feels fear when he discovers the truth - not for himself, but for his lover and the tiny life they've accidentally created. "We should have been more careful," he says, looking at the other mech. He gently touches the side of the purple helm. Shockwave sighs and leans into the touch. "Yes", the scientist says simply and watches the Autobot's expression. Optimus' EM field brims with uncertainty and worry. "I don't regret anything," Shockwave adds and sees his lover's optics brightening slightly. Optimus embraces him and nuzzles the side of his helm. Shockwave relaxes, relishing the closeness and the quiet joy of being touched, accepted. "But you will... visit Ratchet?" he hears and nods instantly: he's aware of the problems, and of the risk his condition is going to bring. The sparkling is just a trace, just a speck of light within his own spark - at least for now. Later... he's going to need any help he can get. To give himself any chance. To help his sparkling. To heal. "...Empurata doesn't damage the spark code," he adds quietly. He feels Optimus' embrace tighten. "You are going to be okay," Prime says and kisses the top of his helm.

If only.

"Yes," he agrees.
