What I don't get is their marketing strategy. Like, I understand wanting to increase their SM presence using the cast member with the largest following, but by doing that, the GK team limited their audience. By frequently advertising the villain of the story (for likes), they've basically buried the actual leads and advertised to everyone else their lack of confidence in the actual story being told with the younger cast members. Yes, getting rid of MC would be the smart move, but I have yet to see any 'smarts' from the show's creative team.

This could basically word for word apply to Jensen and TW too lol. They messed up their marketing by focusing on Jensen/Dean when he wasn't even really in the show til the back half and that's only AFTER they changed courses with where the show was going halfway through, had they followed through with their original plan it would have been even more confusing why the promotion all focused on the voice over guy.

And lbr, Dean kinda was the villain in that story. I mean, the "core four" (I think I threw up in my mouth a little even just typing that) were just going about their lives before newly-madeover-southern-Dean showed up and messed up their whole timeline. And let's not pretend like he was "saving/protecting" them from some big threat when they literally showed the "big bad" defeated by a ghost car (imagine what a real car could do!!). They probably would have been in a lot less danger for that year/week/month/day (wtf was the timeline of that show?) if he hadn't intervened because then the spider-sharks wouldn't have been going after them to get to Dean.

Huh... I hadn't made that connection, but you're right! It would have been interesting to see how well TW would have done without Jensen/Dean's involvement. I know tons of people watched just for him, but perhaps if the Ackles and Robbie focused more on the story at hand instead of figuring out how to shoehorn Dean into the narrative, it would have held its own, and maybe even been better than what they went with.
