okay rant about the fight between scott and stiles because all this hate on either of them is just over my head. "i'll never forgive scott for...". dude sure. it hurt me too, it hurt stiles too and it hurt scott too. that was the point. people who love each other hurt each other at times and there's no romanticising that but there's no denying that either. it isn't selfish, it might just also be entirely selfless at one point. it might also just be desperation to see the world from their perspective. you ARE supposed to be upset with people you actually love over everything little that they do, because you feel the guilt on their behalf and because you care fucking enough, because you don't WANT THEM TO FEEL THAT GUILT. SCOTT WAS NOT WORRIED ABOUT DONOVAN, HE WAS WORRIED ABOUT STILES. even though he was always trying to save every life, he was enough used to murderers going around the town to be extremely shaken by the death of a chimera going around killing people anyway. it was the fact that stiles might be involved that shook him. from the moment theo told him about it, his only concern was that stiles did something perhaps irreversible in the heat of the moment, something stiles wouldn't be able to live with himself for. he was upset with stiles. he wanted stiles to explain himself. but that wasn't because it was irreversible for their friendship. and even if their relationship changed because of it, it's fucking SUPPOSED TO. THAT'S HOW IT WORKS.
he also said it ffs "i knew sooner or later one of us would get blood on our hands, i thought (was hoping) it would be me", or something. i, for one, would never want my brother or best friend to live with the guilt of taking a life forever. i would trust them enough to understand/feel their desperation over the world's innocence but i would still be terribly terribly upset with them. because i wouldn't want them to do it again, because it would FEEL wrong to me and i have my own moral compass where i see the world from my own lens. HE CARES ABOUT STILES IS THE REASON. he didn't go to the police snitching on stiles or go around telling everyone about it or getting stiles arrested for it, did he? he didn't even try. he would have hidden the body with him and still be upset at him. he wasn't trying to hurt stiles. sure, stiles got hurt, because stiles didn't want to lose scott and he wanted scott to believe him. and sometimes all we need is for our people to trust us without even knowing the full story, but scott also WAS a child who was told a completely possible story which he still confronted stiles about, and who was going through stuff in his own head and had a child's moral compass about how no one should be killed. y'all live stiles world because you see it through him on the screen. scott doesn't. trust me he loves stiles more than anyone in the world, but that doesn't mean his perspective or his problems are only ever about the world stiles lives in that he hasn't been through. well, perhaps, being more considerate and better at communicating would have helped, but please. he was a fucking teenager trying to save the world. how much dyall even expect of him ?
he wasn't hurting stiles. he was upset at stiles. and that would hurt stiles sure, but they were both hurt, and miscommunication is the most natural thing in the universe. he didn't ask stiles enough and stiles didn't tell him enough, not about theo either. just because we saw stiles' entire perspective throughout the show and realised how much he needed understanding and where he had been the entire time does not mean scott is also magically supposed to live his entire life through that lens. if anything, this entire thing just made the best written character arcs where they both had individual dimensions to their personalities. rather than the typical fairytale-ish portrayal of everything. their friendship still is the best i have seen on television. do you see how their friendship was bigger than any of all this even? and then when they met again and had processed their thoughts further, they had the conversation, and scott did say "did you think i wouldn't know what self defense is?" THE THING IS YALL KNOW IT WAS SELF DEFENSE, but even stiles himself wasn't sure about it lol and he was so internally struggling with the conflict to be able to tell scott everything about what really happened. he did needed the validation, but scott wasn't in the best state of mind either. maybe in a state better than stiles but he didn't know THAT either. and stiles didn't seem or was very convinced about his own innocence either. didn't make scott's love for him any lesser, but made scott try to tell stiles that he could have perhaps avoided that because he was upset at stiles. not because he would ABANDON stiles. their fight was so much bigger than how y'all took it. he grew worried when stiles' father got hurt, he would have done anything and everything to save stiles if stiles had gotten hurt.
(also when stiles had told him to just let him die if it meant people getting saved from getting hurt back in season 3b, scott had said to him "the plan is to save you.")
