It was a beautiful evening, pleasantly warm. The sun still hung in the sky, though only just barely, and there was a light breeze, one that gently moved through his hair. It was raining somewhere nearby. He could smell it in the air; but, the clouds off in the distance seemed to be moving onward and away from where they were. He was grateful for that, more than he could have said.

Then, after taking a deep breath, he exhaled, sighing, and turned to his daughter. He smiled at her then, catching her eyes and then, after a moment, spoke, his voice soft.

          “We... don’t get to do this often enough these days.”, he began, looking away.                “I’m sorry.”
