Yeah the way they’ve written Mike in these scripts is REALLY concerning and doesn’t make me feel confident in our hopes for Volume II
Honestly, it’s nothing we haven’t seen before. I was hoping we’d see something new, but they wouldn’t have left in all that stuff that we saw on screen if it wasn’t intentional, so even if the scripts seem..emotionless, it’s just supposed to be a rough dialogue guide. They’ve diverged from the scripts before in ways that felt purposeful, like making Mike the yearner at the Snow Ball instead of Will, so I like to just assume that they either were satisfied about how it would be received on screen with the acting, or they’d change it.
Only thing that bothers me a little is them removing the mil*ven flashbacks from Will destroying Castle Byers. We might not have been called crazy for saying Will was gay if they made it a little more clear like they planned to.
But for the most part they are great writers, and despite the scripts seeming disappointing, we just have to look at back at the absolutely huge amount of evidence in the actual show!
Oh edit to add: they didn’t give us much new in the way of byler but they did show us some insight into mil*ven being unhappy. Everyone was faking a smile at Rink o Mania, Mike said the exact wrong thing in the fight with El, he originally missed when he threw away the letter and WILL put it in the trash ( 💀), so it wasn’t all nothing.
