some of 2025 in review: not even going to try breaking these up by month.

in spite of being down and out from surgery (the ultimate accomplishment, only took 20 some years) and other personal shit, 2025 was pretty popping. it's hard to pick out a specific piece or project but i'll say i'm so proud of SUPERPOSE—the finale of arc III went absolutely perfectly— and BOY SKIN— a relative standalone piece, a baring of the heart— grateful to everyone who let me join their projects/anthologies, and happy to have met so many people at MICE for the first time. i was so sure i wouldn't recover from shortbox 2024 lol (i went into surgery in early 2025, and definitely got back to work too quickly.) looking at this though, i guess i did end up managing with the help of friends, my partner, and escaflowne. but i've also finished the year off in a pretty rough way. i'll need some sort of break sooner rather than later... nevertheless, look forward to 2026: the year of SUPERPOSE. get into it.

So I know many neurodivergent people have no object permanence so they forget about people and don’t miss them when they don’t see them and then there is me I miss people all the time but if I don’t see my friends regularly my brain seems to forget that they like me and actually want to be my friends and that I am actually allowed to text them or something if I feel lonely or want company. The longer I don’t see my friends the more alone I feel but the harder it gets to actually reach out to them because I feel like I am not allowed to for whatever reason idk. How stupid is that?! Can anyone relate? Is this a neurodivergent thing somehow similar to the object permanence thingy or am I just nuts?

also i have to say there's smth consistently eye-rolly about the idea of going "oh you can't blame me for leaving her there !! i thought they were good people !! i didn't think they would do anything bad to her !!! that's why i left her there i thought she was safe !!!" as if "they" even broke that trust. according to literally all accounts the incident in question happened before you left and nothing progressed further after you were gone. accusing "them" of being horrible nasty people when again, the only wrongdoing alleged at all was on the part of one of them ???? like you can just say that while drunk you didn't make the right judgement call and once you woke up sober you checked in with your friend because thinking back you were worried abt her comfort levels without crying wolf about how you simultaneously "thought they were good safe people" and they took advantage of that after you left (by doing nothing after you left, because the whole incident being described here happened with you in the room) and also knew she was uncomfortable which is why you checked on her immediately (which is somehow being used to blame two people who had zero access to the texts asking her if she was comfortable at all and therefore made the assumptions that she was comfortable based on what they themselves saw)

no but fr as someone who’s godawful with even high school physics and has the computer science level of a mildly talented 4th grader, I think about quantum computing and I feel true cosmic horror like it makes me understand how Lovecraft felt creeped out by air conditioners there’s just no way for my mortal mind to comprehend it without inducing madness
