one thing you gotta appreciate in Carpenter’s The Thing is that it is also a horror from the POV of the monster. At the end of the day it’s a movie about a bunch of assholes isolated in the middle of nowhere doing what they can to survive, and by “doing what they can” I mean freaking out and screaming and throwing up. this also includes the Thing.

Okay but there is actually a really amazing fic out there of The Thing from the Thing's POV that shows how it considers humans to be the strangest and most terrifying thing it has ever encountered because it is a hivemind and we are these weird meatpuppets that keep ourselves locked inside a bone prison at the top of the meatpuppet.

And THEN we try to kill it.
