The Darlingtons and Ordered Records present Decades Dance

“With a raw category and an uncomplicated lock on human nature – bad days now sound so much better” - God Is In The TV Due for release 21/05/2012 is Decades Dance, the full-length debut from the South West’s finest purveyors of pummeling yet poppy indie rock, The Darlingtons.

Taking off from where the album’s lead single ‘Bats’ left off, Decades Dance sees the Darlingtons cram a smorgasbord of diverse influences into a streamlined sound that recalls Echo & The Bunnymen, Biffy Clyro and Interpol.

From the aforementioned ‘Bats’ with its rousing and defiant choruses of ‘I won’t go without a trial,’ to ‘Ship at Sea,’ a slow-burning indie rock gem kept afloat by National-esque drum figures and soaring guitars, and the ethereal ‘Sunflowers’ which recalls Death Cab for Cutie’s ‘Transatlanticism;’ it’s a wonderfully diverse set of songs that establishes The Darlingtons as some of the UK’s most promising young songwriters.

With a recording and touring ethic rooted firmly in the DIY principles of tireless work and constant gigging, The Darlingtons have been slowly building a loyal, dedicated fanbase rooted in the genuine and sustainable. Having reached the finals of the Green Man competition in 2010, and subsequently signed with Ordered Records, the band’s admirable attitude towards all aspects of their music and aesthetic is clearly starting to pay dividends.

The band is currently booking summer festival slots ready to touch plenty more hearts and minds than they already have; something that the lofty, anthemic heights of Decades Dance are perfectly suited for. Here is the latest anthem from local Tauntoners-come-Londoners, The Darlingtons. Now signed to Ordered Records, their professional progress and musical growth is definitely audible within 'Bats'. A gorgeous combination of shoe gaze, indie rock and Summer, digging your teeth into this ditty will put a smile on your face and hope in your eyes, for sure.
