i just got 2 new piercings & the biggest pain is making sure you don’t sleep on them! i agree you were prob just putting too much pressure on it while you slept. but in general my piercer said to use a saline spray 2-3 times a day to keep the area clean; if there’s any gunk around the piercing use some gauze (not cotton pads, bc the fibers could get caught around the piercing) soaked in saline to clean it; & having warm water run over it in the shower can be soothing. & total healing time for lobes can be 3+ months so don’t change the earring before then ✨

also finished white lotus s2 today. jaw DROPPED when i saw him fucking that old man. still love him tho i think he’s done nothing wrong and in fact deserves the world. the conversation he has with portia abt the world being a great place and us being lucky to be here has been bouncing around my brain all day and i Will steal it

hi dearest i just binge read the comic and was wondering what you thought about the changes to tao in the show? personally i'm a fan. i think he's got a lot more depth in the show but was curious about your thoughts (particularly with how they changed why charlie doesn't tell tao about nick)

HELLO HELLO and yes, same. I'm good with the changes they made to Tao in the show, because it made him much more rounded as a character - and you can tell I really do mean that, because if we're being honest, some of those changes did not paint Tao in such a good light. But that's OK!!! He's fifteen, and all of the questionable things Tao said and did came from a place of protectiveness for his friends; and again, he's fifteen.

With Charlie not telling Tao about Nick, I LOVED that change. And not because I'm like "Good yes, my boy is no longer to blame for Charlie getting outed"; because honestly, I don't actually think it's impossible that that could come up in Season Two. (And could connect back to Tao's comment about how he - Tao - thinks that Charlie thinks he'll say something stupid and out Nick to all his friends. Why would that be something Tao's thinking without the past incident of him accidentally outing Charlie?)

The main reason I liked how they changed that was because the show really went to great pains to give Nick control of how and who he came out to. He felt safe and secure to tell Tara and Darcy. He felt the same with Elle. Queer folk flock together like sheep, I know we spent years - well when I was a teen anyway we did - claiming otherwise, but you just do subconsciously feel safer around other queer people. Nick's trying to figure himself out, and Tao is intimidating. He understands why Tao is the way he is, and respects that, but I also would feel terrified of coming out to a boy who lobbed a rugby ball at my head and seems to want to kill me at all times. Charlie and Nick telling people is all centred around where Nick is at with figuring out his sexuality, and being given the space to do so; and frankly, Nick telling Tao as easily as he told Tara, Darcy, and Elle just isn't realistic.

But!!! Having said all of that, I'm going to go back to how Tao was given so much more depth in the show and I loved seeing it dearly. He is still unquestionably the Tao I love in the comics; loyal to a fault, a sarcastic little shit, embarrassingly in love with Elle and not yet realising it, loves Charlie with all his heart, thinks he belongs in a Wes Anderson movie, wandering round in his beanie hats - and yet all of these things were expanded on and given even more depth to. And I think that they showed his antagonism being motivated by protecting Charlie so well; because as soon as he found out Nick and Charlie were together, yes, he felt betrayed by Charlie, but he dropped being difficult with Nick instantly. He was hurt - he's fifteen!!!! - but was still able to instantly shift his priorities and work on accepting Nick and trying to help Nick. And I loved that so so much.

Vibe check: Those mid- to late-fall days where the leaves on the ground are brown and crunchy and the forest is loud and the trees have lost almost all of their leaves and it smells like wood and nature and you can look for mushrooms and bugs and you’re eating warm fall things and it just feels... nice.

Opinions: Mal isn’t my favorite, but I enjoyed making his aesthetic. As a natural tracker, he’s very connected to nature. In the fall, I think he would go on long walks or hikes, maybe dragging Alina or another friend with him. I bet he loves animals and mushrooms and is very knowledgeable about different types and species of both.
