okay well good because i have a lot to say

there's definitely a sort of depressively transgender vibe about ghirahim. it doesn't escape my notice that ghirahim's true form is much more buff, broad shouldered, and with a more masculine-reading haircut, than his usual pseudo-hylian guise. if you read ghirahim as the prototype to Fi, who was claimed by Demise and assumed his own form... what does it tell you, when his chosen appearance, is a lot more delicate? leaning towards flamboyant androgyny, with makeup, jewelry, and effeminate mannerisms?

even without this background, the matter stays that he purposely chooses an appearance that strays from his original masculine shape. you can still argue he appears as a man, and he intends to, but there seems to be a yearning for a more slim and elegant build that i think rings true for a lot of people.

i dont like the argument i see here and there that "oh he presents that way so people underestimate him". really? really? you think GHIRAHIM wishes to be underestimated? mr flourishes his cloak and talks down on you and asserts his own superiority and is itching to intimidate and unsettle you from the second he sees you? and why would femininity be any less intimidating? in a setting where powerful female magicians regularly take over the kingdom? come on. discarded. next.

what is then really sad to me is how easily he ditches this guise in the name of servitude. he obviously adores his appearance, but gladly chips away at it to make way for his original forme the closer he gets to demise. obviously he loves his adamantine true self just as much, but i can't help but feel like he's discarding an important part of himself with little regard for himself. his willful self-depersonalization is something i really like toying with because it makes me very sad. this is a related tangent that knots together with how i picture him as somewhat of a trans allegory but also a whole other contained rant.

also hes gay. i think. maybe he'd have a fling with women if he finds them pretty and powerful enough, but i don't see him forming any sort of meaningful romantic bond with a woman. i think romance is tough for him in general, but if fancy strikes, i see him meshing better with other guys. he likes out-femming them but still being the lead. makes him feel smug.

but he'd have to be actively wrangled like socializing a feral kitten into intimacy with anyone that isn't Demise anyway.

Suelo hacer línea y colores planos pero no estoy segura si hay algo por dónde empezar. Sé lo de ubicar las fuentes de luz y pensar en el volumen, pero ahí me pierdo y termino haciendo cualquier verdura.

Estos son algunos de mis dibujos, pero no sé cómo podría jugar con la iluminación en un estilo así. Estos fueron algunos intentos de usar la luz en el primero, luego están los fondos con intentos de hacer juegos de luz.

Mirá, históricamente se fueron desarrollando miles de maneras distintas de crear la ilusión de profundidad y efectos lumínicos en el arte tradicional. Acá se trata de buscar un medio que te favorezca y resulte útil. Vamos a pasar por algunos, y podés elegir lo que te haga sentir más a gusto. Algunas consideraciones generales sobre la luz: Conviene planear la clave lumínica de la obra antes de realizarla. Se trata de un sistema de simplificación de la composición en tres zonas según el nivel de luz o sombra: sombras, medios tonos, luces. De esto se desprende el nivel de contraste. Si hay tonos extremos, la clave es MAYOR. Si no los hay, es MENOR. La altura lumínica va a determinarse por las mayores proporciones de valor en la obra. A mayor luz, más altos los valores y por lo tanto la clave. Va un leer más porque esto se hizo largo...

De acá te puedo dar un truquito: Las sombras más claras nunca tienen que ser más claras que las luces más oscuras, y viceversa. Es decir que si pintás una cara, la luz en la parte a oscuras de la nariz generalmente no debe ser más clara que la sombra en la parte clara de la mejilla.

Después, pensá en la paleta de colores y la luz de ambiente. Intentá primero usar tres o cuatro colores como mucho. Te recomiendo primero hacer luces con tonos amarillentos y sombras con tonos azulados o violáceos, después podés investigar un poco sobre cómo funciona la luz, el espectro lumínico visible, la luz de rebote, etc.

Medios Húmedos

Acuarelas, tintas/aguadas, acrílicos, óleos y témperas. Básicamente cualquier cosa que necesite ser aplicada con un pincel u otro tipo de herramienta. Acá algunas personas incluyen marcadores al alcohol o agua cuando se usan con blenders, porque sus tintas corren fácilmente. Acá la técnica va a ser la siguiente: - A mayor humedad, mayor nivel de transparencia se puede lograr. Los óleos y acuarelas trabajan por capas principalmente, su alto nivel de transparencia permite usar veladuras, que funcionan dejando ver lo de abajo a través de la capa nueva. Se va agregando pigmento, utilizando los tiempos de secado como parte integral del proceso. - Los medios de secado lento como el óleo son ideales para arreglar errores, pero tienen un costo más alto. - Los pigmentos tienen una tendencia y a veces, cuando no están hechos de un solo pigmento, los colores al mezclarse pierden su croma, su vibrancia. Para evitar esto, mezclá cada color con los demás y hacé "swatching". Conocer los colores que tenés te puede evitar más de un disgusto!!

Medios Secos

Lápices, microfibras, lapiceras, cualquier cosa que no necesite ser diluida en un medio para que el pigmento funcione. Generalmente se aplican directamente sobre el papel. Acá vas a querer usar técnicas de tramado, utilizar los lápices de canto, y probar con un esfumino para permitirte crear transiciones suaves o límites duros entre un color y otro. Generalmente acá el pigmento se aplica de manera cubritiva, por lo cual es muy difícil aclarar una vez aplicado un valor bajo/oscuro. La suavidad te va a ayudar mucho!
