Sometimes closed eyes see clearer…
I’m still tired and really don’t feel like it today.
Maisy tried to die on us last night and it was super stressful and awful. At about 1:30 AM I went to feed Maisy last night and found her pretty limp. She was able to eat a little anyway, but quickly devolved into barely responsive. We put her on oxygen and gave her some subcutaneous fluids, but we were pretty resigned to her not making it. For the next hour we provided supportive care but eventually decided we were prolonging the inevitable to withdrew oxygen and just kept her comfortable. We laid in bed with her for awhile and eventually I fell asleep. Jason continued to hold her because he didn't want her to die alone. Much to our shock around 5 AM Maisy began to revive and act almost normal. For the next few hours i slept in 45 minute increments to feed her and check on her. I'd say she's about 80% of the way back to normal, but I have to admit I don't know what caused this so I don't know that it bodes well for the future. I've honestly never seen any animal come back from what appeared to be the brink of death like that and I just really dont know what to expect in the coming days. Her breathing isn't fully back to normal but I would appreciate any good thoughts you've got for her. #guineapig #alsosomeonetohelpcleanmyhousebecauseimstuckwithmaisyonmylap #alsosomeonewhoisamasterlevelsyringefeedertofeedEsther #rescue #sanctuary #sendhalp #orfood https://www.instagram.com/p/B7wAP9LJVoC/?igshid=do47j6le946r
Number Five, Morton, Beaumont, and Stevie are all making a mess eating critical care on our bed. Of course, Number Five doesn't really need it. In fact, his vet called him chubby today when he was in for his neuter. I guess that's what happens when you live with a bunch of dental disease peegs. Luckily Number Five will get to move to the big cage with the rest of the herd soon now that he's neutered so he will get lots of exercise in there! Morton's fur is also almost all back which makes him extra cute and he's maintaining his weight well on his own. I think Stevie's growth was stunted in his early days so while he has filled out nicely he hasn't actually grown much. Beaumont is actually being one of the most difficult piggies lately and is just really struggling to keep the weight on. He will be headed back to the vet tomorrow along with Marlon, Ozai, Oscar, Calliope, Maggie, Ruth, Mary Tyler S'more, and Poppy. Uh that's a lot of appointments tomorrow. #sendhelp #ormoney #orextahands #orfood #sanctuary #rescue #guineapig #love https://www.instagram.com/p/BzMIPe9HQvX/?igshid=1sojm3q17q599
