spooktober special: uncanny tales of love & violence.
ok i really really wanted to contribute to this spooktober—or what’s left of it—in some way. so in the spirit of this month, and in an attempt to get out of my comfort zone, i drew some cards from my own tarot deck to help me choose a character & vibe for each fic coming out the following few days. as usual, any more specific content warnings will be mentioned at the beginning of each work, however, these are all part of the gritty college AU that started to rot my brain some time ago.
Your fingers dig themselves into the flesh of the fruit. It splits with a cracking sound, seeds spilling down your elbows and onto your shoe, one by one. There’s red everywhere; under your nails, on your arms, on the floor surrounding you. You eat it with no hesitation. For sweet is the promise of eternal life, and even sweeter is the desire to feel your old one pour out of your mortal, soon to turn immortal, body.

you always had a thing for passivity. watching events come and go, not getting involved. yet this is soon to change when you slip away from a halloween party to spend some time with the woman rumoured to have bargained with the devil.

you're an aspiring biologist, hard-working on your phd. when you're coupled with your colleague law to enrich your research, you're mortified to discover that other's personal projects may be a little more ambitious than you’d anticipate.

everyone agrees that you and roronoa zoro are like two peas in a pod: cool, unbothered, hitting pubs on the regular. everyone, except your boyfriend sanji—who’d try anything to distract you from your visibly chaotic lifestyle. even visiting a potion shop.
extras: pumpkin spice evenings
spending halloween with them (ft. the monster trio)
long story short i caught some days off from work & decided to go wild with them. hoping to finish all of these by the end of october, maybe figure out a bonus as well, but knowing this clown i won't make any promises update: i did not finish them by the end of october.
Your work is gorgeous! I'm in awe of your Discworld jacket. How do you organise your embroidery threads? I've only recently taken up the hobby, but I'm already struggling with the number of different colours and keeping them separate. Do you have any tips?
I've only recently gotten so many colours that I had to organise them in a different manner (got lots of thread from friends and family for Christmas).
I repurposed a display case I put gems in as a child because the dimensions were perfect. Now it looks like this and hangs on my wall (plexi glass removed because it kept reflecting light):
But I started with a handful I put in a fabric bag until I realised they got all tangled up. The next stage was finding out bobbins exist and winding it onto those. And then I got this one:
That was my first organiser. You can usually find them in arts and crafts stores or online. Now I use it as my portable embroidery kit because it fits into my backpack. I'd say go for one of these; they're definitely big enough. And prevent your mum from getting you 200+ colours of embroidery thread (or don't. It does look kinda cool).
As for organisation: I sort by colour, but you wouldn't believe how difficult that can get. Does the blueish grey go with the blues or greys? What about the yellowish brown? So I just do my thing. Any bigger batches of colour (why was buying 12x metallic thread cheaper than buying just the three I needed??) are in extra boxes. I'm struggling with space as is.

Ive been a passion planner since they started on kickstarter years ago and my favourite thing about them is that they always supplied free pdfs for anyone who couldnt afford to buy it. I don't know of any other company that does that. Helps people get organised! ❤
