House in the Blizzard
I'm homesick for a place that probably doesn't exist. I have no home. I have a house, you can take my place if you like. I have a family too... It's a little broken, but you can take my place there too. They don't feel like home. No one does anymore, not fully. Insecurities batter the windows, until the glass finally breaks, Sending shards over the floor. Ice cold air floods in through the pane and pain, Chilling it to the core; A reminder of the constant blizzard outside the walls. This place is no longer a home.
Grab backpack, knife and jacket, leave, boots crunching on the frozen ground. I wasn't there long enough to take them off. Close the door, move on. Snow pelts my face, pushing me back. At least I'm moving, if not alive. The house behind quickly crumbles, Remains freeze in time, just another embrace I am not safe in. Walk. Walk on. Further. Onward, to where I can rid myself of homesickness, To a place that probably doesn't exist.
I Always Hear People Talk (an original poem)
I always hear people talk
About love
And life
And God
But while I quietly thought of you,
I wanted to whisper
Quietly
In your ear
And tell you
I think I love you
I always hear people talk
About going slow
And steady
And I want that for you
And me
But I don't have the courage
To whisper
Quietly
In your ear
I think I love you
I always hear people talk
About staying on track
And encouraging each other
And waiting
So I wait
Until the day I can
Whisper
Quietly
In your ear
I think I love you

Bruises
You've taken so many hits from the ones you have loved that bruises feel like kisses And those gentle caresses of a promise matched with the picket fenced smiles makes all the torture seem worth it for a moment But moments are fleeting and soon the past becomes their names Pockets full of torn and crumpled paper Loose change and mementos Strung together with the frayed strings of your sweatshirt Every piece of you rattles with the changing of the wind And I'm trying to catch the fireflies that break off from your light You claimed that by loving no one you could save yourself from the thunderstorms in your gut But your eyes continue to grow darker with the rain Maybe you were wrong all along Maybe I was foolish to believe But with waves crashing behind your eyelids and a storm behind a stare I know there's no were else I belong Maybe they should have left you in the stars Maybe that would have saved my heart From the havoc and doubt Maybe I didn't want to be saved And bruises were just kisses That you never meant to hurt me You only meant to love me
Sometimes I do the poetry
I dream of the day when I don't have to sit in these boring wood desk with names carved in them from the other lost souls before me. They've taken so many lives Just to take a few more Simply sitting at these desk day after day is slow suicide. Murder as some might call it You must break the mold and become aware Stop. Take a moment inhale Notice the boy sitting next to you. Feel his anxious energy Let it travel through you and tingle your spine Get up. Slide back your chair Rush. Rush out of the room Run past the security at the front doors Don't let them hold you down Run until you can't feel your legs anymore Collapse Under the weeping willow Take out a cigarette Stop Inhale Break the mold
Today is... (CMK Original)
I want to write something profound In hopes that you will finally turn around That my words would actually make you listen They would actually make a sound To the honesty and persistence I've usually given up when the going got hard But I've stuck by a hope of calling you mine That I've combined every sentence that man could design I've combine every though inside my mind Because I'm hoping that by writing something real That for once you could feel To no longer wonder what the feeling is you have inside To look into my eyes and to finally decide That my brown orbs matching with yours meant something That I wasn't a fool for so very long Trust me in my honesty For I trusted you in your doubts Held the silk thread around your neck while your hand steadied the trigger of a revolver Place between my teeth I was not afraid For you were the muse to put me in my grave And I wasn't afraid when the bullet took flight I wasn't afraid when I fell back into the night I knew you wouldn't be alone For your heart was promised to so many others The words I love you slipped from your tongue for everyone but me And I know that a pen and paper could never make you stay So maybe the blood stained carpet will finally end the pain Seeing you and not knowing we're a constant delay The revolver was a door And with the trigger you pulled Open to a world where I'm not welcome anymore For I may not have died when you said the words goodbye But you left and that's the same as laying without a pulse I'm a walking corpse with the print of the door handle that took you away I clenched it for so long trying to gather the courage To open the door and scream into the unknown I'm sorry Sorry for ruining all that was good and pure because I wanted more I wanted to be more and do more and see more I wasn't ok with normal So we stood there eye to eye And I said go You never looked back So i suppose it was suicide in the end Wasn't it.
Original Poem by CMK
Your heart beat was the rhythm to my name A numb pounding that nothing else could sustain I’d played you like a instrument Watched your eyes grow wide in an instant I was born in a thunderstorm and you were the lightning rod that brought me home With the beating in my ears The tsunami winds sending words flying as if they were shards of glass Mixed with the rain drops of fears and inconsistencies of promises falling flat to the ground with only a faint patter of “I’m sorry” And the gentle rumble of the truth that was always there I was a perfect storm Your beating heart was the only way home A siren in the pitch black clouds I was a boat lost at sea Your words brought me back Brought me back to free I was a perfect storm And you were the one to bring me home. -CMK
