Guess you're wondering where I went off too, eh? Probably shoulda' told you before I left. Things just got out of hand, and you were in school. I didn't want to bother you, Crimson. So, I hope this note makes up for it. Or at least, it'll make up for any bitter feelings held towards me in the future.
Kairi, there's something wrong out there. I know that's a pretty vague thing to say, but Way To The Dawn was practically trembling in my grasp. I could FEEL the qualms that came from its' makeup, like it was warning me of something that lurks out there in the stars. The Keyblade is an extension of ourselves, right? So, isn't it our duty to follow its' will? Even if it's so abrupt and... unwanted? Hell, I'm not sure if I'm even making any sense.
Either way, staying wasn't an option. Whatever is out there--be it Heartless or something else--I'm going to conquer it. I have to protect the things that matter. The worlds, my friends, and you. Especially you, Kairi. ...I know it seems like we've only just started our new relationship, but I'll be back before you know it. Just you wait. I'll come back for you.
PS: I love you. And I always will. Don't ever forget.
Step by step, her feet paced forward, tired from her long day at school. Worn out, she stared towards the ground beneath her, the roads paved with stone. She calmly entered the door to her foster father's home. The demeanor filled with the usual home necessities. The kitchen, to the right, beyond the "family" room that she'd entered into. Bringing herself to the entrance of the room filled with all sorts of utensils, she pulled open the refrigerator door, only to find her usual after school cracker dip. She grabbed it, and on the way up to her room, grabbed the crackers that went with the after-school snack.
She hopped up the stairs, her ankles wearing thinner after every step she took; her hand clasped tightly to the rail for proper balance.
Welcoming herself into her bedroom, her walls a a light pink, almost white, along with the grey-ish purple trim, she plopped onto her matching bed with a spring. She pulled her heart-shaped pillow into a firm hold, as she glanced over and noticed something unfamiliar. It looked like... an envelope.
I wonder who could be leaving letters in my room...
She pulled herself into an upright position, her comfortable pillow still laying lifelessly in her lap. Reaching her hand over to the nightstand, she held the envelope, and uncased the letter from within. Her deep blue eyes grew wider, filled with curiosity of what this letter was, and what it could mean. She unwrapped it from its folds, and held it closer to her face, now able to comprehend what was written upon it.
'Dear Kairi'... It's for me.
She began, reading word by word, each one seeming a little more heart-breaking.
The heavy brick had planted itself inside the cave of her chest, as she had reached the end of the letter.
This had been completely unexpected, and she didn't want to bring herself to believe such a thing... But, it's not like it was anything new. She was used to waiting. As much as it pained her to say it. Being used to something; it doesn't mean that she wasn't just as hurt as the previous moments. In fact, this was different. It meant so much more... More than any other time her two best friends had left her behind, waiting patiently, anxiously in the sands of Destiny Islands.
He was gone, again... Only, she was much more deeply affected. The shock had overwhelmed her, and she couldn't even bring herself to place the paper back on the desk where she'd found it. She just sat, staring blankly into the abyss of her mind. It was the only thing she could do. Her mind was telling her that she should put the letter back, and maybe rest, but her body wouldn't budge.
"Riku..." She mustered from her throat and out between her two lips.
The paper swiftly fell to the hardwood floor, as she lost the grip, and replaced it with that of the pillow that sat patiently waiting in her lap.
When are you going to be back...?
The thoughts flew through her mind... Her worried mind began to fill itself with all of the worst case-scenarios. Anything could happen, and she didn't know... How would she ever find out if anything did happen...?
She felt her eyes moisten as the thoughts recklessly poured themselves in and out of her mind. The moistness escalated into water, salty, streaming from her water-line, and onto her chin, dripping silently down her neck, and even below her shirt. She couldn't bring herself to make any noise... She didn't want anyone to worry; the mayor had enough problems already; after all, she was always happy, and nice. She wouldn't want anyone to see her the way that she is.
Burying her face into her pillow, she found herself hyperventilating, as much as she tried to stop it, they staggered from her throat every so often, as she rubbed the mess that poured from her eyes, and out of her nose, grossly onto the pillow.
Her eyes red and watery, her face wet, and her cheeks pink, she lifted her head, and her lips began to curve themselves into a slight smile.
"He'll be alright... He is Riku, after all..." She whispered softly to herself.
