Music is a beautiful thing, isn’t it? This Week With Saqeef is a bit of a journey: it consists of mixture of songs both newer and familiar to me. And when I say familiar, I mean some of these songs and artists I hadn’t heard since I was but a wee lad in high school. I found myself feeling in the mood to re-explore artists I once turned to in my teenage years, musicians that somehow had this uncanny knack for understanding my inquisitive thoughts of the complexities of our existence (as is the case with Mimicking Birds), but also having this explosive energy that was an outlet of all the things one feels in that emotional period of life (as is with the case for A Day To Remember and Memphis May Fire). Having said that, I would call the featured tracks of this week Subsonic Words by Mimicking Birds, Have Faith In Me by A Day To Remember, and The Sinner by Memphis May Fire. All of the songs on the list this week serve a different purpose to me: some of them fulfill the purpose of being lyrically therapeutic, while others specifically Moonchild, Snooze, and Origami Button, hit a more musical itch that needed scratching.
