The tip top of Spruce Knob, West Virginia, USA. Summer 2020. The one road trip we took this year was to the middle of nowhere...and it was lovely.
“Spruce Knob, at 4,863 feet, is the highest point in the state of West Virginia and the summit of Spruce Mountain, the highest peak in the Allegheny Mountains.”

This cozy little lake on the mountain of Spruce Knob. It was rare to find such a lake nestled on a mountain, but yeah...there it was. A sight to behold, indeed. It felt like I’d been warped into a scene from the journey to the center of the earth. One minute, we were on the tip-top of the mountain peak gazing at the lush, rolling valleys below, but after exploring the allure of a winding road leading to the other side of the mountain, there was thick forest, a clearing...then...this glistening, fluid beauty...this amazing creation of time and space and physicality. A miracle really. A blessing. A gift to see and feel and be this human being.
It was a rare thought to find that if everyone in the world was there in that moment, together as humanity, looking upon this flowing energy...if everyone there knew who they truly were and how they could really do anything, as one race, in one love -- even walking on water...like Jesus said we could.
I guess it made me think of the New City and our King and how paradise awaits those who believe. How there’ll be no hate or death or aging or wars or poverty...or hate. How it won’t be about working for a wage or spending our time to get paid. It won’t be survival of the fittest or figuring out what we’re gonna eat. It won’t be about buying and selling anything. That game is for our souls and going on now. But standing at the edge of this lake made me think, and thinking can lead to something great -- I guess...as long as you see it that way.
