Coverage of the June Rebellion in contemporary French newspapers - L’Echo Français
The number of the 6th of June of this newspaper includes:
a long poem about the death of Lamarque
a detailed description of the funeral procession
transcription of the speech of Maréchal Clauzel, M. Maugin, General Uminski, M. B. Vidau (student in Law, representative of the schools)
description of the further development
quotes from other newspaper, including the National, Constitutionnel, Temps and others
a list of the delegates present at the funeral
more cholera numbers (that sound so much like a 2020 thing)
mentions of repressive measure against various newspapers
This part speaks of a unexpected and unprovoked attack by the dragons, and of gunfire where still many of the official participants were there...

The Chronicler of London: did I dream this?
There’s a lot of random history rattling around in my brain. This is especially true of the early Mediaeval period in England. I have a few dozen books devoted to the period between late Roman Britain and the Norman Conquest alone. That’s not to mention the stuff I read at uni, or the random historical research I’ve done over the years since then. So when I remember something, I can’t always remember where I read it.
There is a source that I either read about, or dreamed I read about, that I’ve had no luck tracking down again.
Here’s what I remember:
It was an anonymous first-hand account written by a person designated by historians as the Chronicler of London, dating from the 5th century. It spoke of the city of London being attacked by Anglo-Saxon invaders, and the Chronicler having to flee with their family in the night. At the time of writing, several years after the event described, the Chronicler laments having been unable ever to return to their home, or even hear word regarding whether London still exists.
Is this a real source? Or did my nerdy history brain just spontaneously generate a thrilling and dramatic story for me?

Llyfr Du Caerfyrddin (The Black Book of Carmarthen)
“Currently housed at the National Library in Wales, the Black Book of Carmarthen (Peniarth MS 1) is a manuscript dating to the middle of the thirteenth century. It is believed to have been the work of a single scribe at the Priory of St. John in Carmarthen.Much of the material is either concerned with the figures of the Dark Ages--Myrddin, Arthur, Urien, and Taliesin all appear here--there are also a number of religious poems.
Also, there are a few poems by Cynddelw, bard of Madog ap Maredudd (ca. 1160). Skene does not translate his poems, so I am currently in the process of tracking down usable translations of the Cynddelw poems.The majority of the translations I am using here are from The Four Ancient Books of Wales, by W. F. Skene, 1868. Unfortunately, they are probably not the most accurate translations, but they are the only ones which, to my knowledge, are public domain. (Even at that I'm not sure, though the book is well out of print.)”
