Bruce enjoyed working in the lab and inventing things with Tony, but inside he felt like he needed to do something more.  It was extremely important to him to use the things he’d learned to benefit others.  Any time, even the briefest moment, that reminded him there was more to him than just the monster was invaluable to him.

Since his return all he really wanted to do was stay inside and hide from the world, but he knew while that was helpful in the short term it was very detrimental in terms of his long term view of himself.  When he saw that an embassy was starting up a shelter he thought it would be a good place for him to put a toe back into the world.

He didn’t exactly look like a doctor as he made his way to the embassy.  The hoodie, loose pants, battered shoes, and shabby messenger bag was all about making sure nobody gave him a second glance on the way to the embassy.  Once inside he looked around to find someone that seemed like they were staff.

“Excuse me, miss,” he said to a young woman that looked like she might be able to help him.  “I was interested in volunteering to help with the shelter and I was wondering if you would know who I might talk with about that.”  He hoped that his thin frame and the fact he was perpetually underweight would overcome the fact he was a man.  In this type of place his gender could cause issues as most of the woman were fleeing abusive men.  It was an extremely dangerous time for them, Bruce knew more about that than he really wanted to.  He couldn’t help his mom, but maybe he could help one of the women here.
