Tiger print t-shirt? Supermouse Eni doesn't give a fluff! EXPLORE!
so on the plus side, Peanut is going potty on her own now.
on the down side, it seems i accidentally trained her to go potty when i pick her up.
today’s my sis’s birthday~ =w= i spent the night at her place last night so i could babysit today.
i took Peanut with me, of course~ though keeping the kitties away from her cage was a little challenging. she’s completely weened now, but she still hasn’t drunk out of the water bottle. she can drink water from a bottle cap, though, so that’s what i’ve been doing for now. she still needs a bit of help pottying, but she’s getting better. i gotta check her on that every 3-5 hours just to make sure she doesn’t have any blockages. she’s ready to be moved into my other room now, though, where the rest of my mice are. maybe she’ll figure out the water bottle from watching them. i think mostly, she’s just too small right now. imagine trying to drink out of a cup with a rim as big as your head~ lol.
Peanut tries oatmeal.... and then gets sleepy <3
alright~ time for a mousy update
Peanut can now get in and out of her nest by herself, and is eating more oats and seeds. i’ve still pushed the soy milk, though, because i wanted to make sure she was getting fluids. i just showed her how to drink from the water bottle a little bit ago (i would have earlier, but i had an appointment and left her with my mom to mouse-sit). when i go to feed her in about half an hour, i’m going to try giving her oatmeal, and see how she does. she’s been using her teeth more, so i’m expecting her to do fine.
once she’s eating oatmeal, the main things i’ll be looking for is if she’s drinking okay on her own, and if she’s going potty on her own. i’ll probably still keep to the every 2 hour regimen, but switch to just giving her water, until i know for sure she’s doing okay with that on her own. same with pottying. i’ll continue to use the Q-tips to make her potty every 2 hours until i see that she’s doing that on her own as well.
and once she can do everything by herself, i will take a very long nap. lol~
Peanut got out of her nest all by herself and is exploring her cage~ yay! i feel like a proud dad~ pffft
Peanut ate some oats!!! =w=b
that’s a good sign~ i’m proud of her. they were dry, too... she didn’t drink much soy milk, though, so i’ll have to be sure to push fluids next time i feed her. i might try teaching her how to use the water bottle, but it might be too hard for her right now... mostly because she’s so tiny and a bit wobbly on her hind feet still. the water bottle is HUGE next to her~ lol
i switched Peanut to undiluted soy milk. i think she prefers it diluted, though, so i might switch back. next time i feed her, i’m gonna try getting her to eat something more solid and see if she’s interested. and by solid, i mean something soaked in soy milk. maybe oats. i tried oatmeal yesterday, but i think she was too dehydrated to even try. she seems much better now, though, so we’ll see.
