In a hypothetical scenario that the Schism is healed, how would Catholic and Orthodox Christians be referred to? Apostolic Christians?
I’ve not given this much thought before, actually. Now that I’m thinking about it, being referred to as Apostolic Christians, considering the expressed important of the veneration of the Apostles as Saints, would be very accurate to describe the theological similarities between Catholicism and Orthodox Christianity. Both Catholicism and Orthodox Christianity accepted the decisions of the Seven Ecumenical Councils and agree upon the line of Apostolic succession. Most denominations of Christianity now only agree with one, two, or even three of the Ecumenical Councils. Even more so, despite us being taught that we have a different idea of apostolic succession and how it works, most of us consider Catholic clerical orders as being apart of the apostolic succession. So, yeah, I guess being referred to as Apostolic Christians would be accurate to a large part of our theological teachings and yours.
